Exclamation SAW vs OME vs the world:)

well...it is just so hard to decide....after talking to Mark at Metal (over an hour he took his time to help and answer...what a guy!!!!), i'm still cofused...i was already sold on their hybrid set...and than i saw that thread about how stiff they are.....in addition...no one in the market realy knows if i should or shouldn't change my bilstein trail tuned shocks if i will use OME or not....(i have the 08 off road pack)....wouldn't like to throw something good....i do plan on puting a bumper, winch, front skid & rock rails as well....i wish some of the local guys here in socal could help me and my left hands get dirty on my rig ....I'll get the beer

btw, i lost the bolts & screws for my OME rock rails....any ideas on the sizes i need to get?

Donahoes might not be an option anymore.

On the shocks, what's your priority: ride, cost? If "ride and bugger the cost" then look at King or Fox or whatever crawls out of the Donahoe mess. If cost matters, then OME are excellent coilovers for the cost, but they're not the Rolls Royce like the shocks at 2+ times the price.

P.S. EDIT: amazed that bugger gets past the filter nazi software. Do they know what it means? I even tried the 'w' word that rhymes with "banker". Made it through just fine. The word is so bad I edited myself on this re:edit. WOW. wowy-wowy.

ok, hijack over. Sorry.

I'm with Mir. I have the OME and am more than pleased with it. If $$ is no object then get some adjustables, but for the money, Old Man Emu can't be beat.

M8 1.25 x 35mm is the bolt size, grade 10.9 you need 16 of them with lock washers and washers. Give me a call and we can shoot you a pack of what we use with our sliders. They will be cheaper than what the local hardware store will charge for high-grade alloy (10.9) bolts.

The SAW system being “To stiff” is most likely having the preload improperly adjusted on the coil overs. Since the SAW uses a 700lb spring it only needs 0.25” to 0.375” (6mm to 9mm) of thread exposed above the lock collar for a full 3” height suspension. Where as others us an off the shelf 650lb spring and require cranking up the pre load to give a full 3” height.

I say the same thing OME is the best suspension performance for the $.
