"Typical lift 2" " assumes a 4wd with an ARB or other aftermarket bumper and winch. However if stock bumper is used one might get 2.5" with a 4wd. If one has a 2wd(like I do) they might get 3" of lift with a stock bumper. I now have an aftermarket tube bumper and a winch, so My lift has gone from 3" to 2.75" and might sag to 2.5 " over time. Also a pair of unloaded 886's will get a 4wd close to 3" of lift.
Hope this helps. I'm sure others will have something to add.
Thanks. that answered my question on the lift. Now my next question will be.. everyone is talking about the tires and wheels and stuff.. does that contribute alot to the performance? are the stock 17" alloy and dunlop AT works with a 2" OME lift? or what would be the preference on wheel and tires? Thanks.

Re: The Old Man Emu (OME) Options Guide

Please include the OME 895E as a rear option. It is slightly shorter than the 895 and provides less overall rear lift, giving more front end leveling options without pushing the front end alignment specs. The ARB FJ ran this setup before taking on more weight, tent, etc. and thereafter shifted to the 895. The ARB FJ is a great example of flexible OME options in the rear. There are only a handful of posts regarding the 895E. It probably should be more widely used.

Steve,
Since your lift was installed in May 2007 PLUS you had such great measurements (before and after install), could you remeasure your lift now? It's been almost a year--it would be interesting to see what changes to the height increase have transpired since the install in May!

Thanks!
Bob

Re: The Old Man Emu (OME) Options Guide

Great thread. My question is how much do shops charge to install an OME set up?

Re: The Old Man Emu (OME) Options Guide

After reviewing the OME spring differences the 886's are longer than the 885's. I will be running the 885's and want the same tires as this dealer truck. 305/65/17. Do you think i can clear the same tires as an 886 front lift can? Especially without the heavy ARB Bumper?

Should get the lift and tires in tommorrow. I guess I will just have to pull the trigger......
