For those with aftermarket coilover setups?

Is it just me or do the aftermarket coilover setups that are rebuildable seem to leak and have premature problems. I have seen people list c/o setups for sale, or just post about them, that they leak or have some sort of problem. I have not heard of anyone that had non rebuildable set-ups leaking prematurely. This may be that the guys with the rebuildable setups are just harder on them than others? Thoughts?

One of my rear DR shocks (non-rebuildable) leaked and I replaced it with Radflo 2.5s (rebuildable) and no problems.

And it might be true that guys with rebuildable suspensions are harder on them then non-rebuildable.

Re: For those with aftermarket coilover setups?

I have the ALL Pro WE, no issues.

I haven't heard of the WE or Fox having these issues

Re: For those with aftermarket coilover setups?

You don't here of those w/o problems because there is nothing to comment on. They work as expected. And, I agree that a segment of those who purchase said components are expecting to be able to use/abuse them harder, knowing that they can be rebuilt.

If it is a concern to you, do as I did, go with OME. No issues, cheaper and perform "nearly" as well as the higher priced coilovers...

Re: For those with aftermarket coilover setups?

I just had a Fox 2.0 adjustable rear shock start leaking after 2 months use. Sent it back to retailer and he said he would fix it no problem.
Thanks Downsouth Motorsports.

someone on here said they had rusting issues with their SAWs. The 5-6 months i have had mine have been trouble free so far.

Re: For those with aftermarket coilover setups?

I have not seen any leaking problems with any of the front Coilovers, just a set of rear shocks. Can you link the thread with the leaking fronts you are referencing?

I have read issues with Squeak on the DR/Icon front COs and some premature rusting and stiffness on the SAWs.

Re: For those with aftermarket coilover setups?

Cant post a specific link, I read the suspension stuff all the time because I want to switch out my readylift for the full meal deal. I recall a reading posts on problems with leaks and rust and I just want to know if this is an ongoing porblem with the higher end setups. I have not come across any issues with the OME or Bilstein setups. If the higher end stuff needs extra TLC then I may look at a more affordable setup.

here is a thread on someone with leaky fronts: DR coilovers with leak

here is the thread with the rusting SAWs: Rusting SAWs

both of these people are in the minority when it comes to coilover problems. if you don't want to even have a remote chance of having to deal with any of these then go ahead and do the OMEs, or the like. look at it this way, you can replace the entire OME setup two times over for the cost of a set of adjustable and rebuildable coilovers. think about what you are willing to spend and how much time you are willing to invest in maintaining any mods you do.
