OK, the lift is on order...... Ome Mediums all the way around.. I am throwing the pro comp flat blacks 7089 17X8 underneath also. A majority of people in this forum seem to be running 285/70/17 tires (32.7X11.2/17) I went to a local dealer and they have 4 fj crawlers with arb bumper and 886's. I test drove them and they all run 305/65/17 (32.6X12/17). I am not going to run a bumper with the mediums but thinking about butting the 5mm spacers ome provides on both sides to level the rake. I want these 305/65/17 's (Pro Comp Xterrains) they are nice! Just dont know if they will fit with the medium ome's.
I cranked the wheel both ways on the dealer truck and it clears those tires. I want to tooo. Any insight????????
I am paying 700 for the lift 300 for install 760 for 5 wheels and 1025 for 5 of the exterrain tires. Total $2785 Dealer $8000.
But can some one answer my question? Do you think the 305/65/17 's will fit on the Medium ome front springs?
They clear great with the 886's I wont be putting on a bumper so it shouldn't bring the front down..... Might be the same height as the 886 with bumper?

bcrib...don't look for a definitive answer from the forum on this because we just can't tell you for a fact whether or not it will fit without rubbing on your vehicle.
a good majority of 2-3" lifted FJs run 285/70/17s, and even with this tire size, some rub some don't...just too many variables. and, the 305/65/17s are even wider. the bottom line is, there's a good chance it will fit without having any rubbing issues, BUT if you want to lift and stick on larger tires, please have it in the back on your mind that you just may have to chop those body mounts.
I have the OME 885/895 lift with the Toytec 1/2"spacers on top, KM2s 285/70/17 on stock steelies, no rub at this point. The rub seems to be determined by the wheel used. Wheel width, backspacing and offset seem to be the key. I plan to do the body chop on mine just because I can and avoid any issues there.
I have also read where when using the wider rims like 17X9 rubbing on the UCA becomed an issue.

This is probably not going to help you much, because I don't know what the offset and backspacing of the rims are... That said, the rule of thumb that I use (assuming you're going to wheel the truck a bit and not just ramp speed bumps) is that if the tire clears with no suspension upgrade, it will clear with a suspension upgrade. I say this because sitting in the truck and turning the wheel side to side is no indication of whether the tire will clear in a full lock and compressed scenario. I'm running 255/85-16s (33.1x10) and ran them without a suspension upgrade for several months. I DID HAVE TO CHOP THE BODYMOUNT. I am going to guess offhand, given the width of those tires that you will have rubbing in a locked and compressed situation, regardless of lift - at which point, you simply chop the mount.

it's not just the wheel used, although the backspacing and width do play a major factor as you mentioned. but, slight variations in the type of tire...AT or MT, the vehicle itself, alignment, all play a role in whether a setup will never rub, rub slightly at full lock and/or articulation.

The heavies aren't going to give you more clearance than the mediums. The difference in the two is the load it can carry.

x2 on that.. I thought it was anything over 295/70 you had to chop the body mounts. I believe the reason that so many run the 285/70's is because with that size you don't have to chop.
