Another happy OME Med/Med Install

Got my OME 885/895 springs and shocks installed. I got the 885's as I have an Allpro Winch bumber sitting on my office floor waiting for me to have time to install. I was expecting a much harsher ride without the bumper, but was pleasantly surprised. Just feels "tighter".

I measured from the ground to the bottom to the wheel wells. 37.5" front and 38.5" rear. Half inch lower on the drivers side front and back. I personally like the raked look and just hope the Allpro doesn't make it excessive.

The overall height is about 79.5" with OEM rack and 265/75/16 BFG's. Replacement Nitto Terra Grabbers 285/75/16's are gonna make it pretty darned tight getting into the garage.

Overall, happy camper.

Re: Another happy OME Med/Med Install

Congrats. You will love it more and more over time. My mediums felt very stiff the first couple miles. I guess a break in period. Now get some pictures up.

Cute dog too.

I just got that same OME setup and those exact tires myself a few weeks ago. Love it! What wheels did you get?

Congratulations!! I still love my OME's. It is one fool proof, solid product.

I am thinking about the same lift. Did you put it on? Or did ya take it in?

Re: Another happy OME Med/Med Install

I think I am one of the only ones that ISN'T happy with my OME lift.

I am coming from 883's and stock rears with a more or less level FJ, to 885 and 895 springs and the applicable shocks which give my FJ a harsh rake and more brake dive it seems. If you have a heavy front end like me (bumper, winch, skid, bunch of lights, stuff under the hood, etc.) be sure to NOT tell ARB your application and get the 886's.

If I could afford it I would swap them out but for now I am going to make myself a small spacer to help level it out. Other than that, it's OME. Pretty fool proof.

Re: Another happy OME Med/Med Install

I love my OME Heavies (fore and aft) and I'm sans bumper and winch (for now). The ride isn't nearly as harsh as I anticipated. In fact, it's soft enough that I'm kinda worried about the rake issue when I put a winch bumper and winch on it.

I really like my TRD SE wheels. Gonna stick with those until I see something I like better.

4Wheel Parts. I know... Still, they seem to have done a fine job and at a decent price.

I personally have *less* dive. Got to test that during my combat commute this AM. Feels lots more stable to me. I am also concerned about what happens after the bumper goes on this weekend. Will keep y'all posted.

Thought about that. There are plenty of pix of folks with this lift. Lemme get the bumper and wheels on and I'll post them then.

Re: Another happy OME Med/Med Install

I'm going to find out this weekend if I like my "new 885's" on the trail. When I did the Mojave run last time I didn't have the winch installed, so the front end was fine. Time will tell if it is good in the dirt.

I'm still MIFFED at ARB for the whole 885 - 886 thing!
