After much deliberation and research and procrastinating I finally placed the order for the Toytec 3" kit today. Should be here monday. I am so stoked and cant wait to put it on. Then comes the tires.

Re: Finally Pulled the Trigger

I was the same way. I got mine in the mail on Monday, it's in the box in the FJ waiting for install. I was planning on installing myself with 2 buddy's but they bailed. Still, it looks like an easy job, 2 rear coils & 4 spacers up front(if you went with spacer's), all in all simple, just a little time consuming( 3 to 4 hours from what I read here).I am having our fleet mech. who works on our service trucks do install, said more than $100 less than $200. It shall be done this comming Tuesday. Tires I got on line-285/70R17 BFG A/T's for $849.00 w/ free shipping. The Koolest thing to me is I'll have the only Lifted FJ in this area. Can not wait....Are you doing install yourself?? What tire Size & type are you going with ?? PM me & let me know how it go's.....Good Luck & Enjoy....MAXXFJ

I have a group of buddies and we have done several lifts together. Its like one of our favorite things to do when we hang out. So we will get together in the garage with the tools, the beer, and the pizza and knock it out in no time. It will probably be a couple of weeks before i can do it though, which is going to absolutely kill me. The good thing though is that while I am waiting for a free weekend, I am going to have a friend that owns a machine shop send the spacers out to have them black anodized so they arent quite as noticeable when you peer into the fenderwells. As for the tires, I am pretty much decided on the Nitto Terra Grappler A/T's in 295/70R17 on the factory alloys. Probably have to do the body chop, but thats ok. A little sawzaw action never hurt anybody.

Re: Finally Pulled the Trigger

Your lucky to have buddies that you can count on,(kind of pissed at mine right now, could have used the install cash for more mod.'s). As for the need for the chop- From what Toytec tell's me 295's will fit W/O any problems, that said,& what I think, & seems to be popular opinion here: It depends on the tire. Some are running 285's on stock set up with no rubbing & others are rubbing with a 3" lift at full lock w/ 285's ??
You'll just have to wait & see W/ the 295's, I guess. I just hope I don't rub, I don't want to get into a chop if I don't have to right now. Hey, What are you & your Buddies doing this weekend ?? I've got a frig. full of BUD, & I live 5 min. from the Pizza capitol of the world, Old Froge,Pa.. What do you think,"ROAD TRIP"???

Re: Finally Pulled the Trigger

P.S.-- After the Install I'll run you guy's up to Rausch Creek Off Road Park & see if we can settle the new springs in. Come on, What'da'ya say? I know your thinking about it.
No, just kidding. I'll be fine. You should look into the next group run at the Park. They had a good one Easter weekend,I could not make it. The Pic.'s are here some where, guy's came from as far as Canada. Looked like a good time.
