Re: front cv's going bad to early?

[quote=NCFJ;959111]The bottom line here is that you did indeed modify your suspension by putting on a 6” lift. That you can not debate.

No not debating that, but when you ask the dealer ,''that when I put my 6" lift on will it void any warrenty'' and the answer was ,'' No we will take care of you'',,, And also when I baught the truck, a few days later dog food was rolling out of the dashboard.. Yah the owner parked the truck in his personal garage where the mice made a big nest in the cabin air filter. and took dog food and stored it in there.. He said ''dont worry we will take care of you''... anyhoo im putting in used axle on thurs. if I do anything different I will take picts for those that have to do axle changes themself.. good practice for the trail...

I have a 3” lift on my rig with 33” tires and am waiting with baited breath for heavy duty axles and CVs that one company is developing to come out.

do you know of such company^?

Re: front cv's going bad to early?

Lift & large tires are a killer, then add 4 wheeling & you will have these things happen. I am guessing it was the salesman who said "warranty-no problem" if you would have talked to the service dept. you would have got a very different answer.

Re: front cv's going bad to early?

I would blame that 6" lift and the 35" tires for that.
Stock Rubicons should not even run 35" tires without axle mods, seeing that the D44 is really only a Super 35 upgrade. A stock FJC is going to be no different and worse with the IFS front end. If you run big meats upgrade more than your tires and suspension on any rig you buy from the showroom.

I'm so f@#king tired of hearing about dealerships denying work that they are paid to cover. Make sure and remind them about the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act Sema.Org, that was created to deal with the vultures and their false denials of service.

Good Luck.
He has a 6" lift and 35" wheels, the dealer does not
have much left they HAVE to cover in the drivetrain
that has not been affected by the size changes...

--------------------------------------------------

I have only had my CV's seaping grease fro the inner
boots on eachg side, which was due' to my lift, and
I have taken' care of that little item myself... I have
not broke up a CV yet, but it is rare to be on rocks
here in central and southern Jersey...

Re: front cv's going bad to early?

Actually the Moss Magnuson Act will work against him because his modifications are directly related to the problem. I feel for ya Rick because from what you have stated it sounds like your dealer is one that will tell you anything to get the sale. Unfortunately there are dealers out there like that.

It was actually the owner of the dealership that told me "no problem we'll take care of you'' ....oh well, that enough of this whining.....I put the new used axle in on tues and it was worse than the one that was in there, anyway it took us (with a lift and air tools) 25 min. start to finish..We did not remove the hub or brakecaliper, only the upper A arm, the sway bar link, and the steering link. there was enough room for the removal and replace of axle.. I figure not such a big loss, plus good practice for the trail doing it again on wed with a rebuilt one.
note to self - when buying a used junkyard axle dont assume it is good. capt.

Re: front cv's going bad too early?

I wouldn't put 35's on a vehicle with IFS. I stuck with 33's and I am still worried that the cv's will give way at some point.

Good Luck.
Are you serious?!
All those mods and you want to blame the dealer for not covering it?
The way the Act works is just because you install a aftermarket air filter, they can not viod the entire engine waranty. Larger tires will in fact cause more stress to the cv joints. This would indeed cause them to fail earlier than with stock tires,.....correct?
