RC 6 inch Lift

I'm about to buy the Rough Country 6 inch lift for my FJ and was curious if the Wheelers type A steel wheels would work with the lift?

Custom Toyota Wheels from Wheeler's Off-Road

I was hoping to find steel wheels that would work with this lift. Any suggestions?

That depends on how wide of a tire you want to run. The stock wheels with stock tires had about 1/8" between the side wall and the knuckle. You may want to run the Type 'B' wheels to leave your tire options open down the road.

So is that the whole issue with the 6 inch lift kits, is the back spacing more than 4.5 inches will cause the tire to rub on the knuckle? If I go with a 4 inch back spacing I should be good to go with almost any 12.50 width tire?

The 6" kits all use their own knuckle. I will say the RC kit's knuckle is much beefier that the stock one. I don't have a single worry about it ever bending like the stock ones have been doing. That extra beef however requires the wheels to have a bit less backspacing. I think it is worth it. I am running stock alloys but I also have 2" wheel adapters/spacers.

Make sure to get your body mounts chopped. I believe almost EVERYONE that runs a 12.50 or wider has to have them chopped or you will rub them.
