Lower control arm bushings

Been having some bushings problems lately and I wanted to know if anyone had some advice on this. My fj has 6in RC lift, 35 12.5 tires on 18 in wheels, fabfours bumper and more. I went on tv fj northeast run at the end of march, since then I've had a click coming from the front end. After a few weeks finally figured out what it was. The rear bushings on the front end lower control arms were sliding in place about 1/2 in. Okay need new bushings. Spent $80 for each rear bushing and than paid $60 for each front bushing (decided to replace the fronts since I was already working there). I did all the work pressed out the old bushings and pressed the new ones in. The old bushings didn't have any appearance of being broken or worn out. Not even 12 hours later the new ones are doing the same thing. :/ any ideas? Better bushings?

Re: Lower control arm bushings

Its part of the front suspension. The bottom of the front coilover (shock) mounts to it and so does the steering knuckle and its attached to the crossmember. Its the bushings that are on the same bolt as you would use to allign the fj. The bushings seem to be sliding on themselves. I notice it most when im going slow in reverse and hit the brakes and the same when i go foward and hit the brakes thats when the most movement occurs.

Re: Lower control arm bushings

Mark the alignment adjusters for reference (white paint dot or similar on suspension mounting point). You need to see if the movement is there or in the bushing. How many times have you retorqued those bolts? The alignment bolts can 'stretch' and become more or less useless for their purpose; allowing the alignment to slip out of adjustment. Normally you'd only see that on bolts that have been re-torqued many times but it's something to check. Also check around the alignment adjuster head (bolt head with 'cam' for adjustment). Normally there is a moon shaped piece of steel on either side that keeps the adjuster in the correct location. I doubt one came off, but it's possible. You can also have issues when you lift (or lower) a vehicle...the alignment adjusters may need to be twisted out of their normal location in order to get the alignment to meet your specs...this could potentially lead to marginal contact with the above referenced 'moon shaped' pieces that normally hold the entire alignment head. I don't know if any of this makes sense...
