Advice Needed

Would it be a bad idea to run Part # OME3-FR which is a 3inch front coil lift without lifting the rear. I wanted to see what it would ride like with just the front coil lift at first, and then later on down the road switch out the rear coils and shocks. any info would help thanks. I have also searched long and hard for a thread containing this information of a front coil toytec/ome lift without touching the rear end. thanks again.

Re: Advice Needed

That's going to severely affect your vehicle's handling. You'll be riding on a constant slant. That doesn't sound safe. If you want to test out the Toytecs, then find someone with those. Don't change just the fronts.

Re: Advice Needed

well, if you're not in a hurry to get the lift, might as well save up some money and get the front and rear lift lifts together just be safe.

Re: Advice Needed

But the vehicle in the rear is already high enough so I figured with the 3 inch coils up front it will be a bit more leveled out correct? How will that severely effect the ride ? i must not understand.

Re: Advice Needed

My stock FJ was level. Is your not level?

You want even distribution of weight front and rear. If you lift it 3 inch in the front, you're introducing a significant slant to the vehicle. If you pack a lot of stuff in the back, it's just going to get worse. How will it handle when you hit a bump, hit a hard corner, or have to stop quickly. Chances are you won't feel much difference if you drive like grandma, but if you are ever in the situation I described above, the vehicle will be harder to control.

Lifting just the front is not functional and also does not add to the look of the vehicle. Your ground clearance is only as good as the lowest point of the underbody so lifting just the front won't help. Why not save the money and just do it all at the same time?

Re: Advice Needed

Wondering why toytec sells a front 3 inch suspension only lift. My rear of the FJ is high as hell and I don't know why it is not level to say the least The front of the FJ can barely fit my fist between the front fender and the tire. The rear however can house my whole head. I understand where you are coming from FJamming I am just trying to understand more what the deal is with the part number I listed above and if it was a good idea.? thanks bud.

Re: Advice Needed

NP. If you don't look at the suspension area and just look at the roof line, does it look level? Your FJ is fairly new, but should have settled... Also check the level with the FJ gassed up. The tank is towards the back so that could make a difference too.

Re: Advice Needed

The spring you are looking for is the 883....That provides a more "level" lift.....But the lift is actually between 1.5 and 2 inches. Or you could opt for a level lift using spacers. Try touring extremetrucktoys.com . Never know what you might find.

Re: Advice Needed

Fjamming it is fully filled up right now and it is slanting forward. I don't know what it could be, it just doesn't look right to me. Well any who I am just going to order the full on 3 inch toytec with all the fixin's from Doug tomorrow and just go from there. I just wanted to know if there was a way to bring the front up because...well let me go measure the wheel wells hold up.....

ok the rear currently is at 36 3/4 inches and the front is at 34 1/4 inches. To me that seems like a huge difference. But oh well I appreciate the help and info and spacers are not an option this FJ is getting wheeled like it's supposed to be wheeled.
