Re: OME kit installed (finally)

Looks very good.
I had the same install done last week, but with 886 up front, and 895s back aft.

The ride is rougher, but who cares, it is a truck.
The good thing is that it handles better in turns and feels much more stable than the mushy stock suspension.

just wondering.....you said you got your lift at Toyota of Dallas.....does that mean it's a dealer install? If so what does that do to your factory warranty?
As long as the lift isn't over 2", it doesn't do anything to your factory warrenty...You factory warrenty gets voided when you start altering stuff in that it wasn't built to handle...Like doing a huge lift and dropping your diff., running enormous tires on it...I was hesitant to get a lift as well due to the fact of it voiding my warrenty (least me thinking that)...Then we went wheelin' with an FJ owner who happens to work for toyota warrenty dept. and process's warrenty claims...He explained to me what would void it and what would void it, and what would not...So after that convo, I went and ordered my 2" lift!!

Re: OME kit installed (finally)

Corey, I like those treads, what tires are they?

Strap22, do you know the spring #'s for light, med, heavy, front/rear? 886, 895, etc.?

Thanks.

It is my understanding (that Strap22 will correct if I'm wrong) that the numbers are:

light = 884 front/894 rear
med = 885 front/895 rear
heavy = 886 front/896 rear

D!ck Cepek Mountaincats.
Corey's FJ with a few mods!

Made by Cooper for Cepek.
They are very close to the tread pattern of the Cooper Dicvover STT and the D!ck Cepek Mud Country.

Re: OME kit installed (finally)

Great job documenting...rather illustrating the OME install. Really appreciate the tape measure shot!!!

I got mine from Toyota of Dallas too. Just awaiting install. Their shipping was great as it got here in like 2 days (TX to AL). But I was back home in Hawaii. Now that I am back, I guess I'll have the kit installed as my XMAS present to myself and my FJ.

Gave the wife some new jewelry for xmas so I am not totally selfish...hmmm?

Can't wait to get these EMU's on my rig!

Yep, that's what Jacque said. I'm going for the med setup. They should get another shipment next week at TOD and I'll have it there to install.

Merry Christmas all!

Got my OME kit put on my FJ yesterday. Somehow looks more than just 2 inches. Techs measured all around and they claim just under 4. Whatever. Regardless, surely makes the stock dunslops look like skateboard wheels. Ridiculous! Since no shop around here will give me any kind of credit on them stockers, I'll just have to wait a bit to upgrade the rubber.

No pics to add just yet, at work and no cameras allowed anyways. Thanks to all of you who enabled (LOL) me to pull the trigger. Totally satisfied. Handles superbly, fit and finish is fantastic. Shoot just look at the other fellas pictures and you'll see!

Can't wait to git'r dirty!

Happy Holidays indeed

Congrats and that is what I got ~3.5" all around. I don't think they look that bad with the stock rubber and I'm in the same boat, waiting to burn some rubber off before upgrading. Check out this thread and you can see that it performs just fine with the lift and stock rubber. The guy in the stock blue FJ bent one of his rear trailing arms, trashed his stock running boards and his transfer case was damaged (don't know if it was trail related) because he was running at stock height. You can get more places with a lift and stock rubber than you can with bigger tires at stock height.
