Re: "Factory style" recessed fog lights in stock bumper (development stage pics)
1st thanks for all the suggestions!
will give everybody a quick update on this project ...
lights arrived today (these are going to be really nice). had been waiting for these to verify a couple of dimensions ... good thing I waited, they are slightly larger then expected, will make slight adjustments on mating parts.
flanges were ordered, will have those early-mid next week. (black nylon!)
brackets will be finalized tomorrow, will have those early-mid next week.
black-oxide mounting screws ordered, will have those probably Monday.
will do the install next weekend. am getting anxious.
everything coming together nicely ..... I think you guys are going to like this one.
Comment on bumper wings .... wait till you see what's coming up for those!

Can't wait to see what you come up with Swiss! The project list for the FJ just gets longer and longer because of your ingenuity....not that's a bad thing!
Go McGyver!

Swiss, I am really looking forward to seeing how this porject of yours turns out! I have been waiting since I got my FJ on March 31st for something exactly like this, so I hope my LONG wait is just about over, all thanks to your creativity! I also can't wait to see what you have planned for the bumper wings! Keep us posted on your progress and keep up the great work!

Very impressive, if this thread has a final outcome (finished product) this will be right up there with the A-trac hack..........good job cant wait to see how it turns out.
Re: "Factory style" recessed fog lights in stock bumper (development stage pics)
Thank you for the complements, looks like some fellow members are as anxious for the results as I am.
Just to let everybody know .... I need to install mine first and modify any small fitment issues if necessary. This is part of R&D.
If everything looks "cosmetically" good (and I will post full pics so you can form your own opinion), I can make more of these and I could easily make a full kit for anyone that wants one.
Remaining parts are still expected to arrive mid next week.
As a side note ... was very impressed with the light harness. Well made, all sheathed, nice terminals, heat shrink on the ends, etc. These are not cheapo lights.

quick update on the fogs ....
the fella making the trim rings had a rush project he had to get out this week (i.e. my trim rings got pushed out a couple of days).
the install will have to be postponed until next week. sorry.
darn, I had really wanted to knock this one out this weekend and do the install post, but I promise I will spend the time on one of the other projects instead.

Now I like this idea, What wattage are the lights? I am wondering if the 55 watt lights are not bright enough compared to the regular headlights? I have found some that are 100 wats, are these better. I also pull a boat and like the idea of this application. Let me know how easy or difficult it is to install. Good Luck!
