Sorry, I guess I messed up!

I had started another thread for the kit early today as I had promised a while back and I should have done a post on this old thread refering to the new one.

Here is the new thread:

I have shipped several with the "no-cut" scangauge option .. hopefully the pics will show up soon.
I posted the no-cut version pics in this thread. I didn't mount my scanguage up there though, I like it where it is currently located.

Re: Overhead Maplight Kit

SwissArmySuv,
Just got done installing the unit. Went smooth, piece of cake with good instructions. Took a little over 1/2 hour and I did it carefully. I will attach a pic of it installed with a sunroof to show it works with that as well. A little suggestion would be to put a small radius on the corner of the bracket that faces out to the window. Just a small touch for looks.
Thanks and it looks great and makes a big difference.

Good suggestion on the radii. They run those on a turret press and a standard station tool would be to put a 45 degree chamfer which would be close to a radii. I will look into that. Thank you.

Re: Overhead Maplight Kit

Swiss, just got finished with installing the 'Swiss-light' it went well and I am pleased with the results. It was well worth the wait. You did a great job. It looks like a factory-option. Thanks for you time and efforts into designing and marketing this great mod.

Re: Overhead Maplight Kit

Swi ss or some of you guys who have the Cobra WX-75 , do you think the "brain" for the CB would fit in your housing if the cutout were not there and the face could be drilled for the connecting plug?

Is there any way this could/would work? Perhaps even on the side behind the light switch so it would be out of the way and then the scan guage could still be installed also?

If so. the real question is whether the unit is deep and tall enough to handle the radio box. Also, would the added weight be a problem?

I would just say that if the lights, scan guage on the face and the CB could all be incorporated together into the Swiss box, it would be great. I guess the radio box could be mounted under the dash and the connected be brought up into the box Swiss.

I haven't seen that anyone has thought of this yet but I think it has potential.

Now that I think about it, probably better to put the radio brain under the dash and just run the cable up to the plug jack mounted in the Swiss box. That way, the antenna wire stays low and no need to run it all the way up there. I still think the microphone plug could go in your box though Swiss and that the Scan guage would work too.

I'm working up to an order with this in mind and want to have it ready to go in time for the Summit!

Hi Mike,

The actualy housing is not all that large and it would not house a CB unit.
There is plenty of room on the inside to use it as a wiring compartment for other items. I recommend in the install guide to limit the total weight added or hung on the housing to under 2 pounds. The housing and bracket are very "robust", but I do not recommend going overboard. Try to get a weight on the objects you would like to hang and send me a note if you would like.
