Re: The Fate of Wheeltoberfest

Im for any event that allows us folks in Texas to plan and wheel somewhere since nothing is close to Houston. It has to be planned. Hope more is on the docket for next year as Im planning on attending Jambo and then hopefully Summit for the 1st time. The event seems to fill that fall time void where not much else is going on.

Most definitely! Even after WTF, we've got 6 months until the next annual Texas wheeling event (unless there's something I don't know about). We ought to come up with something. I still haven't been to Bridgeport - is anyone up for a trip there in either January or February? Or, is that still during ice season? Maybe one of the parks further south in January - like Trees Ranch or Cline Ranch? Here's a map I started making a while back with off-road parks in/near Texas. If there are any more to add, you can edit the map or PM me with the info and I'll do it .

In the meantime...if anyone is up for some off-roading during the week of Thanksgiving I'll be heading to Big Bend next weekend and will be there for a week...camping, taking some off-road trails in BBNP, looking for fluorescent minerals at night with UV lights, hanging out in Terlingua for a few days, etc.

tlcntx is online now

Nice map... thanks!

I say keep WTF as its become and create a new event more like WTF started out to be. No reason not to come up with more events for people to gather and get out there!

x10!!! WTF was fun, I was camped away from the band with TRDParts4u guys.... But I think it should stay as is and create some other runs less involved.... I've been to Ouray wheelin for 8 years and 2013 will be my first Summit. I'm looking forward to it !!! This will be my first Jambo too!!!

Great map Tanya. HF can be removed

Add: Escondido Draw Recreation Area near Ozona, Texas. It's a 3400 acre park run by TMTC. I hope to check it out in the very near future!

Edit: Looks like they are still working on the 4x4 trails.
