Houston 4x4 Shops?

I just got my Donahoe front/rear kit and wonder where I should take it... Anyone know of a shop in Houston with some FJ experience? Anyone have Donahoes? 4WheelParts seems too fast food... any thoughts? I'm new to all of this. I figure that there must be a big name in 4x4 here... help!

Re: Houston 4x4 Shops?

See Tom at Off-Road Unlimited on Westheimer in the West Oaks area. Tom did a lot of work on my FJ40. When I add some of my major mods, I'm going to have Tom do it. Tell him that Steve Ferguson referred you. Good luck.

Re: Houston 4x4 Shops?

He quoted me 500 - 600 bucks to throw on my donahoe front/back... That's a lot more than I expected.

Any other shops in town that I can get a quote from?

If this is something you want done asap then a good shop I would recommend is Creative Engineering over in the Woodlands. Call and talk to Mark (the owner) at 281-298-6769 and tell him I sent you. He'll give you a fair price.

Another suggestion, join a local 4x4 club. If you were a member of a club such as TTORA, club members from your area would usually be generous enough to help you install it at no cost with the mention of a wrench-a-thon at your place. We do this all the time!

Re: Houston 4x4 Shops?

Any other shops in Houston that anyone cares to mention? It'd be nice to have a decent list for all people who visit this thread.

Found:

Off-Road Unlimited shop on the north side of Westheimer just east of Highway 6... 14144 Westheimer Rd # 190
All-Out Offroad out on Murphy Rd in Stafford/Missouri City

Good idea.

You probably can handle the install yourself if you have some jackstands and a floor jack. It may take you the good part of a day but I think its doable by most people.
