Its all the Yankees. They are the ones that don't wave at ya. If they'd all go home it wouldn't be that bad.

In the country, where all there is are good ol' southern boys, everyone waves at ya or tips their hat.... Don't make a **** what ya drive.
Agreed. Snow birds cause have done so much damage to the cities that I dream of going and spending the rest of my life in the piney woods. I miss the simple life when it was just me, my friends, and a whole bunch of trees

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

Sorry folks! I FOROGT that I had started a thread here... can you believe it? I was so preoccupied trying to figure out a good sound system for my Fj, I've been spending most of my time in the stereo/electronics forum...

OK, me: 08 Fj, All-Terrain package, titanium (16" wheels with BFG's). You would normally see me driving alone except some evenings and weekends if life’s good...I usually drive up & down Westheimer, near the Galleria, around the starbucks on post oaks, 59 to DT to Sugar land & back...
I'll be waiving at y'all!

I have a neighbor with a new black Fj. One night he and his wife parked their fj just six feet away from mine & they continued on walking without saying a word about our cars... They are full-blooded Houstonians...(and they are nice folks)

I don't think it’s just the snowbirds. I am a transplant too (Definitely not a snowbird). I agree with 5x5. There are many Fj owners who buy a car just for safety, comfort or to show it off. Nothing’s wrong with that; they are just not into this Fj comradery…
Podex if you drive a voodoo then you must be a cool guy… Maybe it was me, so sorry if I missed.
Gnwhite, My bank, car insurance and my old apartment are all in that area… you might see me parked near Chipotle, Buffalo Hot wings or the Starbucks across from HEB some evenings…
Metoo, I tried that with two black, really cool modded Fj’s I saw on 2 different occasions in Houston; one with Cali plates and one native, both ignored me when I waved. Of course they had their gf’s with them, maybe they were afraid their gf’s would notice me... (I was only interested in their cars) but I agree, mod enthusiasts do appreciate attention.
Pat, I go sometimes to your area for business and certainly for my car’s scheduled maintenance so I’ll be on the look-out for a titanium with the Astros sign =)
Stn, I agree… and I agree with those who mentioned Houston is just way too large a city and it's life in the fast lane. But, I never fail to notice another Fj..
_15% in DFW is statistically 15% more than what I’ve gotten in Houston so far (except from you guys of course)…
Five, I DID see that Hawaiian plates too driving down Westheimer one night,… I thougth that was so cool. I tried driving along side to wave at them but they ignored me. Next time I won’t miss your VDB! ?

Well, thanks to you fellow Houstonian Fjayers, I feel a lot better now that I know there are many of you friendly owners from this forum out there. I am sure we will be meeting one another at one point (maybe at the off-road get together next Sat.)

NOW, who is an Audiophile and car stereo guru here in Houston?
Would you like to meet for a couple of beers and pizza (good pizza)!

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

Five, we can have a beer regardless and talk fj if we ever bump into each other in anywhere in Hou.
Air, did you know you are driving my dream Fj? How much did it cost you? I mean just the total chaos exterior package (not the interior mods)...
I talked to those guys on the phone, They were very nice and wanted me to drive down to their shop and leave my car there for a week ( I wish)... I was tempted...

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

Early Saturday morning I was sitting at a stop light in the Rayford/Sawdust Road area. Sitting at the stop light coming the opposite direction was an FJ, a Jeep Unlimited, and a H2. I waved. I got waves back from the Jeep and the Hummer....no wave from the FJ. So I rolled down my window, stuck my arm out and tried again thinking maybe he didnt see me the first time. Still no response. Maybe he was just having a bad day?

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

Since we got our FJ in Sept. we've been to the gulf coast of Florida
twice and all over Michigan, up to Copper Harbor. We've seen dozens of FJ's and waved, flashed (lights ) and honked in any and all combination like a couple old idiots. Very few respond and then only a weak flap of the wrist. I ask ya' ...where's the love?

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

I travel to Houston almost every month and ALWAYS wave at EVERY FJ that I see on the road...the reason no one waves back or recognizes me is because I am in a rental and not in my FJ..... I feel like such a dork sometimes. I just wave out of pure excitement and out of habit I quess.

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

Today a girl in a titanium Fj was driving behind me for about a couple of miles on the Southwest Freeway's service road near Hillcroft (titanium parade) At every stop light I waved at her through my rear view mirror, she looked at me with no facial expression as though I was crazy:" so what? you're driving an Fj too, big deal"... me:

Re: "Friendly" Houstonian Fj owners

I'm seeing too many old ladies in FJs. Hopefully if I keep waving, one will bake me a pie or something.
