Re: Houston to General Sams day trip (03/01/08)

I will let you guys know somehow from Ohio whether or not i will be back friday so I can caravan up there with you. Hopefully i can get up there tomorrow with out too many problems so i can get done and get out of the frozen north back down to more acceptable climes. Starting at dixie farm puts the beginning close to me so that is a plus.

Re: Houston to General Sams day trip (03/01/08)

If no snow storms come through or no more ice storms i should be back in Houston tomorrow afternoon. It appears that MIGZ is heading offshore so there will be no build this weekend so i am in. What is the weather looking like for the weekend?

Re: Houston to General Sams day trip (03/01/08)

The directions are:
Take exit 123 FM 1696 off I-45 (4miles North of Huntsville).
Turn left, then go West (under the overpass) 2 miles on FM 1696 to HWY 75.
Turn right (North) on HWY 75 and go 5 miles .
Turn left on Bishop Road and go 1 mile.
The Red Gate will be open
Bishop Rd is a dirt Rd and it sneaks up you I passed it when I went.
I dont know if I can make it, have emergency at work so probably working all weekend.....

Are you starting on the south side of town? We should caravan our way up. Who else is going?

Re: Houston to General Sams day trip (03/01/08)

ok so the "plan" if there was ever a semi official one.

Meet at that Shell station -- Dixie Farm road & I-45 around 9am ish
(it is on the east side of I-45; there is also a big bright silver diner in the parking lot)

Head straight north up I-45
Find Victor1212 on the north side of the 610 loop on I-45 (9:30ish)
Keep heading north on I-45

chatter on CB channel 29

wheel a bit.
rinse off
eat some dinner/late lunch grub
head on back

i suggest bringing a cooler with some trail grub and drinks in it; but it's your day, plan accordingly.

You guys have fun! That Dixie Diner has some good eats for breakfast. The usually greasy spoon.
