Ouray?

Is anybody going to Ouray that is not registered? I am not registered and plan on heading up to do some, on my own, trail runs and have a good time. I missed the registration and cant explain that to my 5 and 7 year old so we are going to visit friends and do some 4-wheel'n. If anyone is interested in setting up a trail run, let me know.

Re: Ouray?

Here is the deal, I have had a couple people PM me so far that are in the same boat.

I think the Summit is a real cool thing but I am not into all inclusive resorts nor am I into being limited to a particular schedule. I understand that insurance regulations will control some of what goes on at the Summit. I have never heard of Daytona or Sturgis being closed because registration is full but they dont feed everyone there. I cant imagine the logistics of putting something like the Summit togather and I think the organizers are doing a great job.

As I stated before I look forward to meeting new friends and checking out all of the FJ Cruisers. I have started a list of interested parties because doing a trail run on your own is not the smartest idea.

I might bring some venison sausage and a portable grill to make wraps for lunch on the trail!

Re: Ouray?

I don't think I'd be concerned about it. There were a number of people who were registered last year but went out on their own; skipping the organized runs. I'm registered and I'll probably pass on the organized groups this year.....assuming the passes are open and you can actually do the runs. The trails are easy to find and to follow, so a good map will guide you wherever you want to go without any problems. The get-togethers at the Best Western are completely open (except for the dinners, where you need a ticket) so you can hang out there after the runs with everybody else.

Re: Ouray?

I have both volumes of charles wells' colorado trails (used to live in denver) so we can use that to pick the trails.

Re: Ouray?

Hello FJ'ers! My husband & I bought our FJ Cruiser Wednesday. We enjoy going to Colorado during the summer to enjoy the trails. We enjoy the Lake City and Twin Lakes area as well. We will be in Ouray July 16-20. I guess we missed the official registration since it was closed before we even knew about it. lol
We'd like to meet up with some FJ'ers while we are there. Let us know if you are in the same boat as us. It'll be FUN!!!

Re: Ouray?

Got your PM and answered your question. You are on the list for our group trail run or runs. Welcome to the fun!
