My Xterra doesn't have sliders...yet. There's a last minute deal w/ a guy in Vegas I am trying to work out. He's hesitant to ship them but not having any luck selling them locally. Though it's good to hear that they're not really needed at GS's, but I def want to have them eventually. Looks like we'll have a pretty diverse crew out there!
The only places sliders are helpful there is if you attempt the hill climbs to the north end of the west side of the "cliff" or if you get stuck on a fourwheeler trail which is where i lost my trim. They could come in handy also if once you leave the hill climb area you head south through the center of the park once you cross over the . There is at least one spot there where body contact is inevitible when climbing up an uneven slippery cut. Although CaliChaos and myself have managed not to rub yet the last two guys we were out there with did rub.

I am actually thinking of spending a weekend out there soon marking up the map they give you with the places to avoid and trails to get out of the swamp area since once in there it can be a real ***** to get out depending on the trail conditions.

calichaos, it's the 2% that I worry about...

as fingas mentioned, the hill climbs need sliders, but it depends on which path you take up the hill. My brother was dragging his gwagen sliders all over the rock ledges on the hill climbs.

other than far right i wouldn't take those hill climbs without skids. five-by-five made it up and probably could have gotten over but he was perched on his gas tank and he has a 3"lift. Stock i wouldn't even think about it.

I have 3" of lift up front and about 2.5" in the rear, but I'm also running stock skids. My next set of mod money is def going towards armor; skids and sliders!

you meant the far right, looking uphill right?

Adam made it up the far left, looking uphill, completely stock, back in 2/2008. Though I haven't been there a while so I have no idea if the climbs are more washed out. Back in 2006, most of the climbs, including the middle paths, were doable in my almost stock rubicon. Last time I went, back in Feb this year, most of the middle paths were washed out so bad that one'd need a big dog to climb them.

Yeah i am talking about the right looking up the hill. The middle path is the one that 5x5 tried. If he had protection under there he probably could have put a little momentum in it and got up and over. All i gotta say is my strap got alot of pull time that day. The score was stock fj(mine) 3, lifted FJs 0.

Re: General Sam's, April 12-13

The far right as you were looking up the climb was easily doable for stock rigs, the left as you were looking up had the upper area washed out and my stock tires weren't enought ot pull me up and over the top lip.

You mean easily doable in a stock rig as long as the dumbass driving (me) doesn't put it in third and try to idle up it like he was in first. STill made it up though with only one stall.

How's your back by the way? Remember, lift with the legs.
