Re: Memorial Park BBQ

I have my old race bike from years ago, a GT Avalanche LE, in '97 and before I put the front fork on it it was 21lbs race ready.

I've got a Haro Flightline Sport ....I used to ride Haro when I was a kid so you could imagine I was stoked when the started making mountain bikes.

I love it! Then again, I really have nothing to compare it to since the last time I had a bike I was 13 and I had a sweet Huffy.

It's been really good to me, I'm a heavy guy and going through the trails at Rocky Hill Ranch, it's held up really well, the front shock is a life saver. I bought it at Sun and Ski, I found the largest bike sales guy (roughly my build but taller) I could find and he recommended it. I was going to buy the Flightline II, but for the extra cash, I got the Sport with the lock out on the shock, disc brakes, and better components.

yea im thinking about getting the flightline 2 but im trying to scrape up enough change for the sport. If no, ill upgrade slowly even though it'll cost more. Im also considering a specialized hard rock.

Re: Memorial Park BBQ

I hear you on that one, throwing down $425 for a bike was a lot to chew off, especially since I didn't know how much I was going to like the sport. But I made a promise to myself and I'm glad I did, I love hitting the trails hard!

Honestly, I'd suck it up and get the Sport (over the II), it's worth it. I'm not too familiar with that other model, but if its a Specialized, it's gonna be good. What I've learned, is that you look for good, big fat welds, good brakes (hopefully disc), and great components, and you're all set.

Re: Memorial Park BBQ

What i would like to know is how this thread degraded from being about BBQ and beer to being about something semi-healthy like biking.

The biking helps me justify the large quantities of red meat and beer I will soon ingest thereafter!

So what's the plan? Those of us that bike, meet up at 10am by the rugby fields and bike for a while, and then find Fingas where he will have the BBQ going and beer on ice?
