Scangague II

I see alot of people running this in thier FJ. My question is why and should I buy one as part of our mods.

Re: Scangague II

I like it because it gives me all of the readings from the FJ, keeps track of my mpg, and allows me to clear codes if any lights turn on on the dash. Great mod.

Re: Scangague II

It's not a must have but I really like mine. Has a lot of features that you don't see on the dash gauges. I'd say the biggest benefit to me is it has taught me to keep my foot out of the go pedal. When I really goose it and look at the in my case litres/hundred kilometers go up, up, up the foot backs out of the pedal real fast. It saves me gas.

Re: Scangague II

the best reason I can tell ya is.

1. On the way home from a weekend get away noticed air intake temp was running an average 135 way higher than normal (even with the airraid cai, which it is not a cai). checked it out. everything looked fine under the hood. got to the house and inspected even closer to find out that the stock air filter cover tab was busted so was sucking unfiltered air in. If I didn't have the scanguage installed no telling how long I would have ran it like that.

2. It's cool

Re: Scangague II

I use it to monitor the engine and A/I temperture, actual speed, battery voltage, fuel consumption, and RPM. It has many features already mentioned in the previous posts.

Go for it

Re: Scangague II

I have used mine to read/clear codes on my wifes car a couple of times. Its good to know whats going on with your FJ but you need to know to accurately utilize the MPG function you need to fill up your gas tank all the way each time you fill up otherwise it wont be able to give you an accurate reading.

Re: Scangague II

Hey John - I would agree with all of the above. Its not a real need for me but it is something I wanted to get so that I could keep an eye on what my sled is doing. I know you saw mine at WheelToberFest and had asked me then. I don't think I answered you very well as we were trying to get out of camp so quickly to go for the last run that morning. Sorry about that brother...but you may call me anytime to ask any question you might have (not that I am the authority on any of this stuff). Anyway, what time do you want to meet up this Friday?
