After wheeling in gilmer, i realized I need to invest in better cb gear. Where can we go to have them tune ours to run with the big boys? I think we want to buy and install one of those amp things to boost us up a notch.
Please give me your input on this.

Got mine installed a few years ago up at Bonnie & Clyde's CB & Stereo. 11311 Harry Hines Blvd Ste 104. I know it's not the best part of town, but they did a good job. I just hung out there while the work was being done.

Clays's is the way to go, I ordered mine through the mail, probably even better to work with in person.
Clay is a super good guy, very helpful, and still does custom work on radios - but he recently closed his retail location on I-20 near Mingus, moved the shop to Weatherford, and no longer has a walk-in retail shop or does installations. He only does business on-line and mail order now:

Sold
RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD.
Also, not to hijack the thread but I have a brand-new Cobra 18 WXST II that I recently bought with a "tune-up" from Clay's for my FJ40, and I don't like the way it fit in my Tuffy console so I bought another radio from Clay's and am selling the 18. Cobra CB Radio Model 18 WXSTII
It was briefly installed and turned on once or twice. This radio cost me $74.95 and an additional $30.00 for the "performance tune up" by Clay, for a total of $104.95 plus tax and shipping. My loss is your gain, I will sell this brand-new radio with all the original box and stuff for $70.00. If anyone local buys it, I will help you tune an antenna for it with my new $300 antenna analyzer. NOTE: antenna not included with radio, you must buy your own with a suitable mount and coax cable.
RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD.
Sorry again for the hijack!
