Re: 3rd Annual Thrill on the Hill

The College of Santa Fe where I work is broke and we only have funding through May. We just had the first round of layoffs and supposedly Highlands University is trying to take us over but as it stands now it wont be fast enough so they plan close the campus and layoff all staff. They already cut my pay and cut my operating budget to zero.
I am just laying low and trying to prepare for being unemployed in May.
Its rough times for our country and so many people at least I know its coming.

Wow, that's terrible Tomas. I thought, and hoped, you were just planning for the worst.

Tomas, hope it all works out. If Highlands will get off of their ass and get the deal done maybe things will work out. Sometimes New Mexico being the land of Manana can really bite.

Good luck Thomas, at least you are in education and you will hopefully be able to make a switch in that field to stay employed.

Tomas, I just saw your post. That's awful. I am sorry to hear about your situation. The economy is affecting all fields. We have had to cut our budget too. I would hope that education would be on the state's list of agencies that may need some assistance to get them through these times. I wish the best for you and your family and will keep you in our thoughts. Keep us informed and let me know if there is anything we can do to help.

Re: 3rd Annual Thrill on the Hill

Thanks for all the kind comments. It will hopefully all work out and I am more fortunate than many others in this economy. Jobs may come and go but family and friends are what is important.
Take care everyone.

Exclamation Re: 3rd Annual Thrill on the Hill

Hey everyone. Sorry I have been out of the loop for a while. TomasMas I am sorry to here about your troubles. Have you looked into any of the other colleges around the state? I hope everything works out for you and your family.

I have been working hard trying to find a place for us to set up camp for the TOTH. Well, I think I found one today and I think it is a great place for everyone and there families. It is a place about 20 minutes from Cloudcroft called Camp of the Tall Pines. It is a huge camp. I was there for about 3 hours today looking over the camp. It will have enough room and amentities for everyone to stay. Which means no hotels or finding cabins. This place has 17 cabins for rent, they have about 10 tent platforms(for tent campers) and about 10 open air shelters for tent campers as well. The only issue is that their really isn't an actual RV park. They have hosted other parties before and have had as many as 36 RV's on the park. So that means that there will only be water and power available for those with RV's and pop-ups.
I have an RV myself and I don't feel it will be an issue. They feel that it wise that we are having the event in September instead of May. They say it is always dry up there in May.
They have ATV rentals there for you and the family with lots of trails all over and around the camp. I got to check them out today. Those ATV trails are perfect for our FJ's too. Also they have several horses available for horseback riding trips around the area. They have a large enclosed pavilion for big parties !! Pool tables, horse shoes, everything we can imagine. We may not even need to leave the property except maybe to hit a trail or two. I will put some pictures on the next post for everyone. Please let me know what you all think by the end of the week so I can lock it down if I get a thumbs up for everyone. Hope to hear from everyone soon.

These are some of the cabins available. They are all furnished, some have bathrooms and showers.
