I had a Snap-on pitman arm puller that i've used on my jeep... i used it once and it comes apart without removing the darn pitman arm... This for me means red light to snap-on products. I rather prefer craftsman, which is cheaper and works fine. Btw, i have craftsman torque wrench. Not used yet on the FJ, but used (and abused ) on the TJ. Still working fine.

Ouch!
Well, I bought the torque wrench that The Tire Rack sells for $29.99 plus $19.37 shipping (pretty damn expensive shipping if you ask me) Seems to work ok for what it is. It's not a Snap on, but I don't need one that good. So I have about $50 bucks tied up here.
So you guessed it, I was walking through Wal Mart today and in the RV section they had exactly the same stinkin torque wrench for $14.95 plus tax!
Don't it just figure.
I had a Craftsman clicker for a few years and it broke. I replaced it with Husky (form Home Depot) and it does have a lifetime warranty.
I have never seen a Tq wrench out of spec cause issues. They may get out a few lbs either way but in most cases that would be no big deal.
It's the consistency that matters , especially with wheels. Anyway, I have been using my tq wrench for several years now and it's still as good as when I bought it.

Local Sears store recently took my busted torque wrench, a 1/2" drive with the dial on the end of the handle, and gave me a new one. No questions asked. I busted the old one by treating it like a 3/4" breaker bar and sticking a 6 foot pipe on the end to gain leverage while removing a Honda crank pulley. A shrink would probably suggest that I abused the old wrench because I wanted a new one. I blame the beer.
X2, Sears is currently on a 5 year ban from my cash over a rotten deal on a Water Softener Warranty. But, my torque wrench is a craftsman and of good quality. Of course, you can buy Craftsman at K-Mart now, but it's still Sears Corporate.
And me as well. I bought my first "cheapo" 25 years ago and checked the calibration. I worked in a instrument calibration shop and it was as good as our expensive ones. I still have it and have bought two more just like it (but smaller) at HF over the last ten years. I use all three 1/2-3/8-1/4 all the time. For $60 for all three, they are great. No more broken bolts! Ron

$150+ versus the less than $20.
purchased a somewhat expensive torque wrench years ago to rebuild engines with. Also have the harbor freight under twenty wrench. Sometimes I double check with both, never any difference. When finished always reduce tension down to zero before storing. Go figure

Why? The only reason people dont like Crafstsman here is cause they had issues with sears on other products.
Take it from me I sell tools for a living, craftsman is good quality for a reasonable price and a great warranty. Snap-on is nothing but a marketing company. They have good tools but its over priced and its up to the individual truck guy to warranty it. If u buy one wrench and tell him u will never buy from him again, 99% chance you wont get a warranty. Sears Ive brought a socket set in dirty and beat up with the quick release not working they gave me a brand new one no questions asked.
X2, Anything that ever broke on me with the Craftsman name on it was replaced no questions asked.

LOL...When I was rebuilding my 6 cyl. BMW I couldn't get the crank pulley off either (was afraid of flipping the motor off the engine stand). Called and found out that you have to heat with a torch to take it off. It called for 400 ft. lbs. torque for the install...I used an impact on it.

Wow, go figure I also bought that torque wrench from Tire Rack from the link given here but they only charged me $8.59 for S&H to Jersey. How deep into Pennsie are you?
I just checked the replacement torque wrench that Sears gave me and see that it has a "1 year guarantee." It is a 25-250 ft-lbs, part number 944597, clicker with a twisting grip/window adjustment. I handed over a lifetime warranty wrench that only failed because I totally abused it.
The Tire Rack/Wal Mart tool looks like a better deal for tire changing. I better be more careful with this Craftsman wrench than I was with the last one.
