I have a 1/2" air impact that I got with my craftsman air compressor 33 gal. I had never used it until yesterday, when I did start to use it didn't have any breaking power. I turned the small dial on the bottom from 1-4 and really didn't see much of a difference.
Is there something I am doing wrong I had the regulator on the air compressor set at 95 psi.
I was trying to remove the wheels using it and it should have more than enough power to remove the lug nuts its rated to 230-240 ft-lb.
Hard to really tell without seeing it but I would put several drops of oil in the air hose nipple of the gun and free spin it a bit. Make sure that you put a drop or two in it every time you use it as well. It may just be a case of it having a little rust inside from sitting without use. If that does not work, take it back and swap it out for free.

When you say you had the regulator pressure set to 95 did you mean the tank pressure or line pressure? I'm guessing the tank pressure is much higher than 95 and you have the line at 95.

What diameter air hose are you using? You need at least 3/8". Your fittings can also be a choke point for air volume (many are 1/4" which will restrict flow). Your regulator could also be bad (stuck from corrosion). For oil, I have always used ATF (the type does not matter), it is cheaper than "air tool oil" and it is pretty much the same stuff.
The 1/2" impact that came with my Craftsman was rated at 300 ft. lbs. of torque, which should be enough to break most SUV lug nuts lose. Needless to say it is a bottom line impact but with the psi set at 100 psi, it works pretty good. If you are going to be doing a good bit of wrenching, you may want to purchase a In-Rand that will get you up to 650 ft. lbs. The difference is amazing.

First I oiled it up and gave it another try and same thing no power. I then went to the POS Sears near my house and delt with Dumb an Dumber and they refused to exchange it. Then I just went to another Sears and got it exchanged.
They didn't ask any question just gave me a new one, still have to try it out.
I had the same problem, I just cranked the regulator up to max and the hammer mechinism just pounded away but finally broke the lug free! Just had the Wheels rotated at the dealer. I'm so friggin pissed I'm takin the rig back in the A.M and raisin Hell! I'm gonna demand the GM to unloosen one of the Lugs with the stock wrench. I Tried, and I'm 250lbs and this is why I spent a hour diggin out the compressor and impact!

Wow, that's not good. Check to see if the stud got damaged once the lug nut is out.
