Re: Motor Trend 4/06: Snowdogs - H3 vs. Liberty vs. Xterra vs. FJ Cruiser

Hope someone can post the whole article soon.

About "powerful" Hummer3: (got it from "the car lounge")

It takes 11.1 seconds to hit 60mph, and 17.9 seconds to hit th 1/4 mile at 76.9 mph (Xterra and the FJ get 7.4 and 7.6 sec 0-60 times respectively) .

From the article, "Passing on the highway? Best to pass on that idea. Moreover, the Hummer offered the bounciest, most punishing ride of the group; its gargantuan rubber was more apt to wobble on uneven freeway surfaces; and its pure two-box shell was the most susceptible to wind bufferting."

LMFAO

FWIW, the 4lo gearing is pretty low, which helps make up for the lack of power. But yeah, not a smooth ride (still better than my s10 Zr2 though)

Re: Motor Trend 4/06: Snowdogs - H3 vs. Liberty vs. Xterra vs. FJ Cruiser

My biggest complaint on the S10 was the abs system. The "we might stop eventually" system. I called GM to complain and they actually told me that it was designed for dry level ground and drivers who have no idea what they are doing. I lived in Maine at the time. Nothing is dry or level in the Northeast.

Needless to say, I am totally unimpressed with antilock brakes - screw them things. Bring back POWER BRAKES! I want my wheels to lock. If I am to the point where a panic stop is absolutely necessary, I want it to lock ENTIRELY. Not pulse repeatedly while thinking about it.
