Tastey one for the rumor mill

Let me preface this post with this definition:

rumor |?ro?m?r| ( Brit. rumour) noun a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth : they were investigating rumors of a massacre | rumor has it that he will take a year off.
verb ( be rumored) be circulated as an unverified account : [with clause ] it's rumored that he lives on a houseboat | [with infinitive ] she is rumored to have gone into hiding. ORIGIN late Middle English : from Old French rumur, from Latin rumor ‘noise.’

A Toyota tech ( Not "Toyotatech" the forum member) told me two rumors ( see above) yesterday:

RUMOR 1. Toyota has stepped up 2007 FJ production beyond the 46K anticipated for 2007.

RUMOR 2. Toyota is considering San Antonio FJC production alongside the new Tundra.

Hearsay at best. Now discuss.....

( I am ordering my V8 today! )

Re: Tastey one for the rumor mill

Don't think either rumor will come to fruition. Although TX. could use the nice jobs created by rumor #2. Mine is a one of one so I don't care about rumor #1

Re: Tastey one for the rumor mill

If rumor 2 is correct can we expect faster time for parts such as windshields? I have mine and it was made in Japan. I don't care where any of the others were made

Re: Tastey one for the rumor mill

The #1 rumor doesn't really make sense. There was never a limit, but a projected demand. They could have purposely not disclosed actual expected demand to make it appear more limited and therefore more appealing to prospective buyers.Production will be limited only by supply and demand. They'll make just as many as they possibly can as long as the dealers and customers are willing to buy them. It was originally planned that production would occur in this country if demand was strong enough which it apparently is since they are a year ahead of schedule in projected demand. Demand has already begun to slow down with inventories beginning to build on the East Coast in many locations. This is not a limited procuction vehicle. They will make as make as many every month as production line capabilities allow so long as they have a market. There will probably be some upgrade enhancements and gizmos added to the 2008 production which probably begins in September or October of 2007. If they were to severely limit production, that would be the best thing that possibly happen for us, but not for the company which is their primary interest.
