Boston Globe: Worth A Second Look

After a harsh treatment by the automotive writer from the Boston Globe he reversed his opinion today and called the FJ a suitable daily traveler. He continues to rate it as a top off road performer. A second ride in an FJ convinced him of the error in his ways.

Worth this second look - The Boston Globe

I drive mine long distances and find it to be a great ride. About time some of these writers actually take on on the highway to before they offer and opinion.

Re: Boston Globe: Worth A Second Look

He didn't change his mind, he just wanted to reaffirm his initial thoughts about the FJ. He raved about it in his first report, but after reading some negative reviews from others he wanted to take another look to make sure he didn't get caught up in the initial hype. Well, after a second look he liked it even better. His only real complaint was the lack of standard side impact bags. He wanted to see if it was a good daily driver and it was. He already knew about its offroad ability which he liked alot. So, his first review was good+++, his second review was great.

This is a great article. It makes me wonder if writers are bias when writing reviews. Do their take the stance of the majority of writers when their write their own conclusions about a vehicle? Interesting indeed..

Re: Boston Globe: Worth A Second Look

This is what the same writer wrote in the globe on Sept.30:

TOYOTA FJ CRUISER
I love this car, partly for nostalgic reasons[ I had an original back in '72], but mostly for its no-pretensions presentation. Toyota flat-out says this is an off-road vehicle. And it's right. The company makes no claims that you'll want to commute in it. You don't. But for style, performance, and funkiness, and a price tag below $30,000, it's one of my favorites of the year.

In his latest article he changes his mind about it being a good daily commuter.

Re: Boston Globe: Worth A Second Look

I actually invited this writer to come on the Trail Team ride here in NH this past August. He never responded.
