Angry AutoWeeks 2nd Quarter Review

Doesn't sound positive but if you read it carefully it also looks like they missed the whole point of the FJ "off-road."

The one comment that illustrated total ignorance was the statement that engine felt like a 4-cylinder? I think that comment right there lost any credibility with me. One thing the FJ does have is a decent amount of power...it's not a race car but it certainly has no problems getting up to speed.

I think those Autoweek people should keep to thier Ferrari's, BMW's and Mercedes. Those are the only cars they write positive reviews about.

Re: AutoWeeks 2nd Quarter Review

You know what I think? I think we need to officially invite all of these would-be car professionals out to the national get together and tell them to bring their "cute-utes" with them so we can settle this once and for all. As somone who actually reads these magazines for information Im amazed at the amount of misinformation they produce. They need to look at the niche these vehicles have filled and see first hand what they are capable of. As far as niches are concerned with biology, you'd never expect a cheetah to outhunt or survive better than a mountain lion in the mountains. I think they need to start matching these factors up more.

They don't like it as an on-road vehicle, sounds like they would be happier,
test-driving a Kia Sorrento for the remainder of the year than the FJ.

Hopefully, they will enjoy the FJ's off-road adventure more than it's city.

Hopefully the article will make it into the hands of Horace and Buffy before they purchase their next vehicle. The fewer people buying the FJ as an "iconic conveyance" the better. To keep the FJ Cruiser affordable (and a vehicle buyers can pre-specify the options they want), it needs to have a shelf life on the dealership lots longer than 6 hours.

I don't get upset with articles like this. Someone that really wants an on-road and off-road "out-of-the-box" vehicle will be wise enough to test it for themselves. You cannot simply dismiss Toyota build quality and long term reliability went considering a new vehicle purchase.

Re: AutoWeeks 2nd Quarter Review

Doesn't tick me off either. (anymore) Toyota purposely went outside of Toyota's very strict policies when it comes to visibility and ingress/egress to bring us a very cool vehicle. They could have stuck to their guidlines and we would be driving a vehicle that bridges the gap between the Rav4 and the 4Runner (in styling). No thanks. I'll deal with a little peeking to see traffic lights (another reason for a lift) or I'll deal with actually having to pay more attention when backing up or making lane changes to drive a vehicle that evokes emotion and big smiles from me. I applaud Toyota for kicking their own a$$ and putting out a very non-Toyota vehicle. We got the best parts of Toyota without being stuck with the 'boring' part. I'm a happy camper. I have to camp in a tent because the stupid seat wont fold flat, but I'm still happy.

Toyota intended for the seats not to fold back all the way. The slight incline of the seats are to represent "pillows" propped up underneath you....get it? I too am a very happy camper!

Re: AutoWeeks 2nd Quarter Review

It seems like most reviewers just don't get it! No matter what they are reviewing, they always try to match it to their tastes, not to what it was intended or designed. Therefore, car reviewers are as brain damaged as movie reviewers. I like the FJ and I like action movies! I get more people gawking at my FJ than any car I have owned before.

it sounds like they'll be testing it off road soon. i'm sure we'll hear a different toon after that from them.
