New Consumer Reports: FJ got a PERFECT score

Anyone see the issue? It's the newest edition, I received it Monday in the mail.

They didnt like the blind-spots or gas milage, but engine, transmittion, electrical, brakes, etc - scored 'Excellent' in every single catagory. Only a few Lexus's and one Honda scored Perfect.

My decision to buy an FJ that is.....

Is it different than this Consumer Report review (this is just a snapshot of the article)? Because this one is not very good - they give it a 36 out of 100 stating:

"The FJ's styling echoes the rugged early FJ40 Land Cruisers. While its off-road prowess is superb, the FJ is full of compromises. Visibility is horrendous, and the rear-hinged rear doors provide poor cabin access and are difficult to close. The FJ has clumsy handling and can be disconcerting at its limits, although the standard stability control keeps it secure enough. The ride is compliant but jiggly. The V6 powertrain is smooth and punchy, and reliability has been top-notch in its first year. Crash-test results are very good. However, the FJ scores too low in our testing to be recommended."

the Jeep Liberty is rated a 42, the Kia Sorrento a 43 and the Nissan XTerra a 59.

So....basically a 36 is not "perfect".

California Annie, please tell me your Consumer Reports article is different than this one.

I dont have it with me, but there are two sections:

The first is the Overall rating, which included their complaints about the poor visibility and gas milage.

The second is towards the back of the magazine, which rated all vehicles based on the mechanics, alone. They rated all aspects as follows:

Solid red circle: Excellent
1/2 red circle: Very Good
White Circle: Good
1/2 black circle: Fair
Black circle: Poor

The FJ got Solid Red Circles in all areas. Only two or three other vehicles received 100% Solid Red Circles.

Catagories included:
Engine
Cooling
Fuel
Ignition
Transmission
Electrical
A/C
Suspension
Brakes
Exhaust

etc....
