Actually, frighteningly accurate.... which makes being cynical almost a - sport

It has always made me chuckle that a car maker can designate a package a Special Edition, Limit the number and watch the wackos run naked for their check books.

Look at the Special Edition Camaros and Monte Carlos. UGLY!! ugly Fugly cars.
Unless you drink a lot of Budweiser and fondle your Cousin - they look pretty good.

I am not sure what sorted behavior Toyota condones as part of their SE following.... I just hope they don't take photos!!

Hey, most realist come across as being cynical... or pessimists.

I, too, fit that character quite often. Lately, even more often. Not when I'm playing with my toys, though. Maybe I'm getting old...

Need more toys...

Re: It's Official: TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser

Well I think this sucks. I actually thought Toyota would "come correct" with a special edition model. I thought the timing for me to purchase would work out perfectly (1 payment left on my present truck). But this really sucks! The real question is what were they thinking! Did I say this sucks yet?
My new questions are: Will the 08 be offered with the same color roof? Bad idea in my opinion. Where is the comittment to its heritage. Plus I like the white roof it sets the FJ apart from all the others out there. In addition the practical heat reduction with the white roof is a wonderful advantage.
Will they (Toyota) add some of this crap (Bilstein shocks, array of airbags, anthracite finish rims, and silly stickers). The only sensible thing they did was the idea of mating the locking diff with the Active Control computer. That way there will be no warranty problems if as opposed to doing it yourself. The airbags are not so bad if they have a way to turn them off when off-road.
Just my thoughts!

Allow me to paraphrase for those who did not grasp what I believe to be the thrust of your contention.

It is my considered opinion that you believe this - SUCKS.

Not "sorta" or "alittle" suck BUT Major Suckage. AbsoSUCKinglutely SUCKS.

Did I capture the essence, flavor and substance?

All of this information is listed on the toyota website now. Also looks like the wheel are going to be TRD 16" wheels and not the FJ wheels as stated above.

Re: It's Official: TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser

As I see it, the SE is a way for some buyers that don't want to be bothered by research, decisions, and making modifications themselves. They will get a more off-road worthy truck than the basic stock vehicles. Furthermore, some buyers are highly attracted to Special Edition vehicles and view them as top of the line models.

Many of the early buyers were obsessed with wanting to personalize their vehicles. Although it took time for aftermarket companies to make products available, there is a good selection of sliders, roof racks, lifts, exhaust options, audio systems, bumpers, skid plates, wheels, and tires to accessorize their FJ Cruiser.

The Special Edition will be an excellent model for those who waited. However, now that I know what is included in the SE, I won’t be disappointed I didn’t wait to order. My FJ is supposed to arrive this week or next. It was ordered to my specifications and it will be personalized my way. I will say though, it is a relief that the SE wasn’t offered in a different color, Forest Green like my 78 FJ40.

Re: It's Official: TRD Special Edition FJ Cruiser

Okay, as a newbie when I posted my question about the possibility of an 'upgrraded off road model" I felt kinda stupid for having asked. I do feel better now. But disappointed they didn't do a bit more to it to put it in direct cometition with a Rubicon (spare me the flames) y'know front locker, bit of a lift, and bigger tires that what they did. I also am disapointed at the movement away from the trademark roof.
Anyways, at least there's room for moe personalization.
