What is it with these things??? What started as a small chip has turned into a spider web almost 2 inches across.

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

I had a the dealersip to show me a nick the size of the end of a .05 pencil that was causing the large split on the drivers side of the winsheild. They said any damage in the "black area" of the wishield is it's weakest point. Duh? Go figure.

Red face Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

oh mannnnnnnnnn!! we just bought ours 2 weeks ago.......320 miles on it. hubby questioned the windshield at dealership but we loved the FJ so much we bought it regardless and figured we'd take our chances. looks like our chances are pretty good we'll be visiting the dealership for a new windshield someday soon. hopefully it'll hang tough until the strong aftermarkets come out. i'll be calling 1-800 when it happens thats for sure. toyota needs to do something. anyone know of any FJ clubs in san diego area??

Don't worry BoBo. Mine lasted 10K miles before it broke. Welcome to the forum, stay away from gravel trucks!

T minus 97 and counting.

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

Got a star smack in the middle of the windshield less than 1000 mi.
I was probably 100' or more from the vehicle in front of me doing about 50 mph.

That bothers me, but what bothers me more is the amount of tiny specks I can see when the windshield is clean, most visible at night in the rain. I have 10,000 miles on it now. At this rate, in a couple of years, even if I don't crack the windshield, I'll have to replace it because I won't be able to see through it.

Got a pic of the chip? Better get it sealed ASAP- it will crack and run clear across the windshield like many others and its no fun driving like that for months waiting for a replacement. Hope your repair holds up.

100 windshields! 11.13.06. some of these may be overlap from previous thread that had 240 reported.

Don't forget to email Toyota while your waiting for parts.

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

So I have had nothing but problems with my windshield, I haven't replaced it yet, cause I am hoping it will last throughout the winter, but i wrote a letter to Toyota Canada and I just got my reply today. They told me that have not had complaints about the windsheild yet. So if you live in Canada and have a problem with you windshield, please let Toyota Canada know about this, they are not going to do anything for me, cause apparently I am the fist person to write to Toyota Canada.
