well, mine was replaced, and they f'ed up my a-pillar covers, and my grab handles.

so anyone who gets it replaced, check them.

the a-pillar covers were bent out at the bottom, cause they didn't know that they were bolted, WTF??
thats it, all i can say. stupid people are taking over at shops all around the world.
When it is replaced, do they have to be careful of the side-curtain airbags?

if they're installing your winshield on the side of your truck, yes

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

Just had an insane rock hit my windshield. Actually I couldnt see the rock because the speed of it. very loud noise . I was ducking for cover even though it wouldn't have mattered haha..

It was this morning when I was driving on I -75 . I'm guessing it was from a semi in the 2 lanes to my left. Because nothing was in front of me for at least 100 yards ( after that it was like a small honda accord )

this left a round perfectly circular crack about the size of a quarter. Hopefully the glass guys can fix it without a new windshield...

Seems like it's structurally sound but the outside layer tends to scratch very easily... Not a glass expert though so who knows?

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

All,

I just got off the phone with Toyota (1-800-331-4331) and they informed me that not enough formal complaints have been logged on the windshields. As a result Toyota is not taking this issue seriously. If you have a cracked windshield or have replaced a cracked windshield, please call and complain, it can only be to our benefit. Lets light up their phone lines with complaints.

Just a quick little ?

I had a thought and I am not trying to get away from the issue at hand.

THERE IS A PROBLEM. I AGREE and have told many people about this. In fact when I bought my FJ 2 months ago the dealer made a VERY big deal over getting "rock protection" I had no idea there was a problem with the windshield until I came here to this forum. THE DEALER DID KNOW I AM SURE!

but just a quick ?

*Does anyone think this poll could be a little "inacurate" due to the fact that a lot of us are really into our FJ's and tend to use them harder than the average joe.... and therefore we have "more of a chance" in getting our windshield broken/chipped??

Also maybe most people who own FJ's might not even be on this forum and therefore might not be voting? Who knows there could be more people with broken windshields than we realize. but common sense tells me otherwise.
When people dont have problems they dont search for answers or publicly complain.

any comments on this?

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

i went to the beach last weekend and on the drive a truck threw up a HUGE rock at my windshield and slammed into it.. no crack, no mark, nothing!

i should probably leave a 20 dollar bill under my car one night, just so the FJ fairy knows i appreciate it.

Not certain of your response here. A post stated "well, mine was replaced, and they f'ed up my a-pillar covers, and my grab handles." This is where it says side-curtain airbags on my truck. I would assume this is where they are located. Did the person who posted just have a bad install job, or do they have to be careful of the airbags when installing a new windshield?

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

when you call to get your window replaced and the install guy says he's done 100 of them in 6 months there is obviously a huge problem here. I sure hope toyota steps up to the plate soon.
