$663 installed

Parts: $503
Labor: $130
Tax: $30
That sounds a lot better... I'm guessing that they didn't have to replace the white metal piece at the top of the windshield?

Man!, what the heck hit you?
Driving from TN to Michigan and I'm assuming a stone was kicked up from the semi in front of me! Did not see the stone during it's "flight path" but the sound was familiar. It actually sounded like the impact that would have "Ricocheted" (sp ??) off my old "F-series" Ford vehicle and cause no damage BUT with the vertical profile of the FJ windshield it did not stand a chance.

Not "quantified" data...just my observations! Still waiting for the local glass shop to receive the replacement...good news is I lowered my deductible to $100 in anticipation of this occurring after reading all the issues on the forum!

Hey...I can add a new item to "Mods to date"...SWEET NEW WINDSHIELD!

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

I'm not saying that I haven't had rocks "chip" my windshield...I just took it to a professional to get it "fixed" before it ran all across my windshield. Most insurances will cover for this repair.... that's if you know how to talk to them right...hehe

Angry Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

Less than a month old and caught a nice rock bouncing across the freeway. I think I even saw it in slow motion...
Just haven't had time to leave work early and track down a place that will hopefully drill and seal it.

What are you going to do when it happens the second time and your rates go up?

Not much I can do about it...see if Toyota releases a more durable windshield...install a 3' tall "bullet proof" glass bug deflector on the front of the hood...see what happens with the class action proceedings...cross that bridge if and when I get there...new insurance company???

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

My windshield cracked today going to VA Beach for vacation. Small rock that made a light ping and my g/f saw the crack that spread like a fault line to 4". Very upset that this happened on the start of my vacation. Already called my insurance to get it fixed next week.

Hey, the 3' tall thing sounds good. A new insurance company won't help... they all report to the same database... we can run but we cannot hide...
