I just scheduled my windshield replacement. The shop said they had another FJ there that they were changing the windshield on right now. And they had replaceded many more. I bet there aren't any other 2007 model vehicles that could be said of. Auto glass shops are lovin the FJ.
Well I've had my FJ for only 48 hrs and 128 miles and Bingo!..... a semi threw a stone and now I have my 1st dime sized windshield chip right over the steering wheel and in my line of sight

Vehicles are not the only thing recalled by their Maker.
Just got my first chip (dime sized) last week on vacation. Really hacked me off. Had it repaired so the crack wouldn't travel but you can still see it. I never had this problem with my CJ-7 and it's angle had an even worse entry into the wind. Anyway, I would be shocked if Toyo issued a recall.
While on vacation to Ouray, I picked up my first chip about dime sized and while there I picked up a huge one about silver dollar sized. I got them repaired today and the big one looks like crap, but hey it's not cracked. Knocking on wood........
Got a chip a month after I owned this thing and then this boulder hit the passenger side from a merging truck on the hiway so I had to replace the glass.
On another note, I got the PPG glass - anyone have any further issues with the new PPG glass instead of the Toyo part?
I am still trying to get the installer to get the trim on the top aligned right so it does not look like it is going to fall off and make wind noise, but that is another issue...
What is PPG glass? It'd be nice to be able to track the aftermarket glass failure versus Toyota glass.
Well I called Toyota CS and they are not aware of any windshield issues. I told the they need to do some investigating. I am suppose to have someone from the dealer call me. Stiil not going to get anything out of them.
Well, after 28,500 miles, and lots of fun trails, I've finally joined the "Broken Windshield" club... Last Saturday, stopped at a mailbox to mail some letters, get back in the FJC 30 seconds later, and see a strange line growing on the passenger side arcing its way to the driver's side... no off-road tales, no highway ranting, just sat there and CRACKED !!!
On Monday, went to local Toyota dealer, and had the Service Manager inspect it and log it. Mentioned to him about the unusual numbers of broken windshields occurring on FJCs, and he says he's "seen a few". I requested it be replaced under warranty, as it appears defective to me - shouldn't crack unless a major impact occurred, and none was evident. He told me he would contact Toyota corporate offices and get back to me.
Received a call from the SM today - he said that Toyota would authorize him to replace my windshield, parts and labor, UNDER WARRANTY !!! He ordered the windshield, and will call me to have it installed when it arrives (next week, probably...).
So although I was upset about the windshield, especially since I knew it would eventually happen, I'm pleased to see Toyota step up to the plate and take care of it without a confrontation (which I was ready and willing to have).
It would have been embarassing for Toyota, I'd think, to have one of the featured FJs on the their website, show up with a broken windshield, though - so maybe I had an advantage....

WOW, sounds like a breakthrough (pun intended) to me. I'd like to think this means Toyota Corporate is starting to respond to their customers concerns about this windshield. Way to go Larry !!!
