Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

I got a very small rock chip in the passenger side very top of the windshield. It made a noise like the roof caved in when the rock hit, but no crack, star, or other issues. I guess I got lucky! But this is after 12K miles and a LOT of freeway driving. Where's that wood I can knock on.....

Is anyone bothering to fill/patch/repair small pits? I never have before (years) and none ever grew. Ron

Talking Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

I don't have much to offer here, except:

I keep as great a distance from potential rock throwers as possible, especially 18-wheelers, commercial duelly's, etc. I don't know if this has saved me, but I'm avoiding any serious thumps so far.

My hood deflector has no known functional advantage in deflecting anything, as far as I cantell, although I didn't care about that much, as it looks really nice and everyone says so.

The bugs drive me crazy, since Oklahoma seems to be the galactic center of the freakin insect universe! I found a nice window washer that has a telescoping handle on it to use when I get gas because I am short and the standard washer at the pump doesn't reach far enough across the windshield. I just keep it in the back and use it for the top 20 pounds of bug-flesh I receive from driving across town!
Hope this helps someone!

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

We need to have a poll to find out who has replaced the most windows so far. I am going on my fourth one this week (it will be my third replacement in 17 months) and I am only replacing them after they crack all the way across. Chips don't count.....Because I lost count of those.

I fixed the problem of not seeing the lights by buying this neat item called LightInSight Windshield Lens.
from LightInSight Home Page give it a look.
