One week old FJ Trail Teams $28,400
One Tank of Gas $61
Having a Jeep throw a rock and put a 6" crack on the passenger side-Priceless
Thanks to being a lurker here before purchasing I bought the dealer-offered windshield replacement policy for $350, will see how/if this works. Otherwise love the new FJ

I agree with you sunrunner. I can't see a darn thing at intersections. But oh well I can see over all those jeeps.

I can't believe that there are so many FJ owners that haven't a clue about the difference between a near horizontal windshield and an off road, near vertical, windshield!
The FJ is NOT a commuter vehicle! If you tailgate gravel/dump trucks, you will get a cracked/dinged/starred windshield. Or if you tailgate a freaking Miata, you will get a cracked windshield! If you tailgate ANY vehicle, I strongly suspect that the same class of dimwits will complain about the 'soft' paint of the FJ!
Well, at least we don't have as many idiots wanting to institute a 'class action' law suit against Toyota this year. ROTFLMSAO!!!!
Get used to the particular OPERATING requirements of your particular vehicle, folks! If you drive a Corvette, then you have to understand that your visual field is obstructed and can get you into trouble due to your lower visual level. Corvette owners dont' whine about not being able to see over higher profile vehicles! They KNOW the deficiencies in the car they drive!
If you are leaving a muddy area in an FJ, KEEP YOUR SPEED DOWN! Your own tires can throw out a mud encased rock and you can break your own glass with it as it bounces up in front of you! If you have installed aggressively treaded tires, KEEP YOUR SPEED DOWN once you hit the road, otherwise a tread encased rock can be rocketed forward and come back to break out your own windshield!
DOH! Us old FJ40 owners ('75 FJ 40 bought brand new!) understood this. It wasn't Toyota's fault thirty years ago. We KNEW that simple physics applied. None of us FJ40 owners sued Toyota. We didn't whine about the OBVIOUS factors of the physical universe.
my windshield was broked after 1 month, rock hit -> small star, i didn't fix it, one week later beautiful horizontal crack from left to right, has been stable now for 8 months.
AMEN! Could not have said it better myself!

Rapper standing on the corner, wrappers flying in the wind... And in my quite reflection, I wonder why..
The fact is if you own a FJ you will be replacing the windshield sooner or later. I have good insurance and I figure I will be replacing it at least once a year because I DRIVE my FJ on and off road. I am replacing my window for the third time in 18 months. In fact as I type this response, I am sitting in the waiting room at Louis Auto Glass right now..... The only other good thing about this is they are very experienced in replacing the FJ windows.....Every vehicle has its good points and its bad points. This is just one of those bad ones for the FJ and it doesn't bother me anymore.....
I had my windshield Diamond treated at the dealer (baked it I think), and I have not had any issues whatsoever. They warranty it also for 4 years no questions... Just a thought for people who are replacing theirs a lot. About $400 extra, but worth it. 33k miles, and 1 year old. 40/60 off/on road miles.
Also, I live in an area with VERY high winds and a long commute to work with hard winters. No problems. They even fix stars and cracks for free.
