Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

Avoided replacing my cracked windshield #1 until it was finally split right across & likely unsafe in a crash. Replaced it, within a day a stone hit it-it was barely audible-must have been half the size of a pea & we were travelling at low speed. Cracked again. Had three suzukis with flatter & more upright windshields- never had to replace one despite stones flying off the windshield like bullets sometimes.

only 2000 miles and a starburst chip from a small rock tossed by a passing SUV....
dead center of the windshield
usually OEM glass is better , not so sure in this case !!

Still on my origional windshield but it looks like it's been through an asteroid belt at hyperspeed.

only 3,000 miles and took a rock ad very low speed I was shocked that it put a ding in it... My windshield also looks like it belongs on a vehicle with much more mileage on it... too many rock pits.. something is wrong!!!!

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

Had to replace mine within 6 months of owning it. I had 2 small chips just above the defrost vents that wound up connecting straight across one abnormally cold morning just after the heat turned on. I got 4 chips in 4 a month span. I'm probably going to get one of those bug shields to help things a little even though I'm not crazy about how they look. This windshield blows & I am shocked how many people have not had problems. Even the windshield repair guys says he is always repairing FJs.

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

I went 10 moths chip free...then one day...bam a good sized chip right in the middle under the mirror. I told myself i would get it fixed soon. The very next week...ping... a small chip over on the passenger side. "good" I thought, "now I only have to go to the windshield place once." Not more than 3 days later another rock hit and it cracked before i got to work. A good 4 inch crack. I've been watching it inch it's way across the bottom to the right. my 4 year old noticed it one night. and asked what that blue line was. I told her the window was cracked. "oh no...we have to get it fixed."
I'm in no rush to do it.

Re: New Windshield Poll - Please Respond

My windshield cracked a week after I bought it and it was brand new. Two months later I had another large crack, so I waited to get it fixed, and after another month or so I go another chip. This is just from regular driving. So I got it replaced again. So far it's been 6 months chip free, knock wood. I have an '08 titanium.
