I can say I hit quarter size hail storm going 25 miles hr while I was going 60 miles hr before I could find cover. Sounded like armageddon but no brakage.

Had it less than a week and my wife calls me up (she was driving it at the time) and tells me there is a crack! $1400 or $1600 (can't remember which) for the glass...lucky it's only a $200 deductible (no glass coverage in VA from my insurer)
Would it be a good idea to change it to $0 deductible now? Maybe in 1-2months and another crack. $200 here and there and it will add up. That's already 1/2 of DF windshield.
First rock ding last Thursday (day 14). First of many rock repairs Friday morning. I'll get to know my local GlassPro guys pretty well. Fortunately I did up all the insurance when I bought it with glass coverage. GEICO - 1st two ding repairs free and $50 deduct on replacement and future dings.
Hey guys, are the insurance premiums fixed in the USA in terms of windsheild damage. I know in Canada that you can probably get 1 windsheild minus the deductible covered, anything after that and your premiums go up? Is it not the same there?
There are at least 10 Threads on the Forum where numerous Members complain about various levels of damage from rocks etc to their Windshields. I think it would be a positive thing for the current and future FJ Community to consolidate that information in one place so that Toyota Powers That Be visiting this Forum will realize the true scope of this problem and try to help us, especially given Toyota's reputation for Customer Support and Satisfaction. As many have said it appears that the problem is precipitated by Toyota's flat Windshield and Vehicle Design, and exacerbated by their choice of glass that is too thin with minimal rock resistance. If you haven't experienced a problem (yet) you can still register your opinion above of what Toyota should do about it. If you have reported your problem previously in a different Thread and want to paste that input into a New Post here, that will help everyone who wants to find detailed reports in one place. Thank You all for your participation and input, and you can select multiple answers if you wish.
MODS: Please Sticky this Poll if the response is adequate.
I personally haven't had a problem yet, but then again i've only driven it about 300 miles. So my .02 is that Toyota should have designed the windshield's to be more durable than what they seem to be, especially for a vehicle claimed to be one the greatest off-roaders around.

There are only 2 types of windshields here in CO; Cracked and those that are going to crack. Personally, I can't hold Toyota responsible for my states decision to use gravel for traction on the HWYs...
