I always use the parking brake. Damn, I am really confused here.
I thought emergency brakes are for when your about to run into a school bus or a church van or something.
Either way, I think people are NOT setting this thang... even IF they park on a non-flat surface.
Looks like we need another poll....do you park on a flat surface?
WHAT IS THE CONFUSION ABOUT???
it is le simple:
-drive around.
-find someone with a steep driveway.
-pull into it nose first.
-TURN OFF YOUR ENGINE.
-holding the brake and clutch, engage first gear.
-DO NOT SET THE PRAKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE.
-Take your foot off the regular brake and clutch.
-wait patiently.
I know that you are aware of it because you left the last post. Have you tried contacting the dealer and/or Toyota N.A yet? This would be more useful info. since the problem has already been identified.
Actions speak louder than words. The words have been spoken...now it's time to take action.
No one is disputing your claim...just go out there and DO something about it.

You know, I havnt heard of this 'issue' before 1 minute ago when I clicked on this thread. But I have to respond....
Why wouldnt it roll if the hill was steep enough? Anyone who understands the basics of the powertrain, clutch and tranny will have the answer to this question. If the vehicle is parked on any decent slope and left in gear with the engines compression being the only 'break', eventually it will roll one compression stroke at a time as gravity overcomes each cylinders compression 'leakdown'.
(will most likely take a while on a new 6 speed tranny with a low first gear, and a higher compression engine!)
What is the ISSUE? Engage the E-Break and call it a day?! WTF?
Are people desperate to find "problems" with the new FJ?
EDIT> I just read the the thread in the link above. Nonsense. The tranny wasnt SLIPPING A GEAR!!!
It was gravity overcoming each cylinders compression. (each 8" roll was a set of one or more pistons' compression being overcome by gravity, and the vehicle stopping again is the next piston or pistons on the compression stroke. This is perfectly normal.
The driveway must be relatively steep if this is happening rather quickly.
Thank you for the 'brake' down of the percieved 'problem'. Your solution is rather familiar but wise advice....use the parking brake! Problem solved....

Yes. That clears it up. Makes Tons of sense. Engine compression is what the vehicles weight is resting on. Shame on you guys, don't you know that push starting a vehicle can creat damage? Read it in the owners manual.
Even in an automatic, you know what the park mechanism is? Its a piece of metal the size of the tip of your pinky finger. That whole thing is holding your car in place. You think it'll hold long on a steep incline? Use your parking/emergency brake wisely. It sure wont do harm to use it.

OK. yes, thank you. ONE QUESTION: why doesn't ANY other manual car i try this with roll?
