Lets play along though......

I say no, cause I park on FLAT ground, both at home and work.

I also actually USE the 'emergency brake' when I park....

maybe a BETTER poll would be......."is it a PARKING brake or an EMERGENCY brake???".....I guess its more referred to as a 'parking brake' these days....damn I feel old now.

Re: REAL POLL: Does your manual FJ roll?

I think you should relist the poll as:

"Does your FJ roll on an incline when parked with the Emergency/Parking brake on?"

Although I'm pretty sure what the results would be....

Well, If you ask silly questions....then expect silly answers...

It was something that I learned eons ago in DRIVERS ED! And if you have ever driven in San Francisco...you also learn to curb the wheel.....IT'S CALLED COMMON SENSE! I'm not saying that the FJ doesn't have issues...it's a 'year one'. Everyone needs to adapt to the peculiar nature of their rigs until Toyota acknowledges it as a problem and issues a 'recall' to fix the problem. My suggestion is to speak with the dealer and/or Toyota N.A. and report the problem. If everyone who is experiencing this problem does the same then Toyota may issue a recall and fix the problem. Our only minor problem is that 6M/T's only represent 2,500 vehicles out of the run of 50,000 vehicles. I have my 6M/T on order and if it does this, my recourse will be to follow my own advice.

EDIT> Based on lllateralus' indepth explanation about gravity, engine compression and compression stroke, about the only thing Toyota would do is to make a remark in the owner's manual about "setting the parking/emergency brake while parking on a hill" (see page #2 for further explanation).

Emergency brake???

I always use the parking brake. Damn, I am really confused here.

I thought emergency brakes are for when your about to run into a school bus or a church van or something.

Either way, I think people are NOT setting this thang... even IF they park on a non-flat surface.

Looks like we need another poll....do you park on a flat surface?

Re: REAL POLL: Does your manual FJ roll?

We can always add a 'flat surface' poll...then Kansas Law Dog can spit out a beautiful power point presentation to highlight the resuts of the research
