As follow up to those who favor air curtains
1. How many own another vehicle that is a convertible?
2. How many own motorcycles?
3. How many own a favorite vehicle (classic to you), that they don't intend to sell, but has no air curtains?

While you weren't seriously looking for an answer, I'd like to offer one up anyway because it's an interesting topic.
My dad and I were partial to 56 Ford and Mercury pickups. No air bags, no seat belts, and in some cases no floor boards

I'd never consider adding anything to the truck if it was going stock for show -- but if it was a daily driver then seat belts seem pretty reasonable.
My wife's daily driver is a convertible that has side air bags built into the seat. In fact is it has front, side, and knee air bags. I liken the knee air bags to the side bags on the FJ.
I have two motorcycles. I always wear a helmet and require the same of passengers; it was mandatory in Canada and a habit I just maintained when moving to Colorado. The first thing I have to do to enjoy a ride, is finish the ride

It's all a question of degree. I accept a significantly greater degree of risk on my motorcycle (daily rider) than in any vehicle with or without side air bags. However I always ride with a helmet and appropriate gear. Without getting into a dangerous political discussion of helmet and seat belt laws; for me it's about calculated risk and a helmet mitigates that risk as do airbags of all kinds. Of course these days Honda is offering an air bag on the
gold wing and there's even an motorcycle
air bag vest. Given the nature of motorcycle injuries I'm not sure how helpful the vest would be in an accident but the built in one on the gold wing might keep the riders throat from getting cut by the wind screen (point being I'm not sure I'd opt for those features)
We opted for the side curtain air bags on the FJ; however, we did give the dealer the option that if they found a vehicle sooner, without them, we'd take the vehicle sooner! We sat on the fence but consider them cheap insurance for the one time they might be needed and something that won't affect our ability to enjoy the vehicle on or off road.
