Wanted something to go offroad, something unique, and something that would hold me, my wife, and my three midgets from Hell. Plus: I am a madman at modifying whatever vehicle I own.
See? That all adds up to a big FJ purchase!

1. Toyota Reliability. Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Nissan/Isuzu could copy the design, but I would not buy based on their poor resale values and reliability issues.
2. Design tribute to the original FJ heritage. Retro, but still modern and unique.
3. NO soccer mom option packages. Who needs carpet? I wanted something a bit rough on the edges and easily modified for my own needs.
4. Mainly, all the above as a platform for getting offroad and exploring the world in a vehicle that is not made for the masses.

Ya, I really wanted shag carpeting because us moms are so dainty and vain.
Because the H-1 kept breaking....The new Jeeps suck....And the wifes Tundra was bullet proof solid.....the FJ was a no brainer......And still is even after owning a "Lemon"
I bought it because when i first saw them in an ad i knew that if they were anything like the FJ40 it would be an insant classic an i wanted to be a part of the orginal frist production plus it takes me where ever i want to go which is always a plus

I got weirded out by the look the first time I saw it (it does grow on a person). The factory set up (off road ability),early after market support and the price was right. The kicker was the head room, being 6'6" it's a requirement. Love it
