It's a beautiful place, rugged, inspiring and challenging. However, it's a multi-rig run because there is a chance of damage and and a winch pull - not for 2WD FJ's.
Yeah. Trail armour, grippy (non-stock) tires, and a willingness to have things break / tear / scratch are required. Lift desirable. I've broken something on every run of the Doran loop. I've seen a jeep right in front of me break it's rear u-joint and lose it's rear drive shaft on one of the steps. It'd be a fun place to get a group FJC run together - but everyone would have to appreciate that it's not a run like Cleghorn...

Great pictures. It really is nice wheeling up in there.

Awesome photos.
I don't know how much longer I can handle this flatland here in Illinois when I see places like this.
You're always welcome to emerge from the swampy flat land and come out west! We can find plenty of trails for you to try your rig on -- however -- what would happen if your FJ got dusty or worse still, dented.

I'm used to lots of mud and lots of dust and lots of dirt. I already have trail dents, scratches and tupperware carnage. I think I've been talking about it enough over the last two years. I need to get my resumes out there.

If you ever do get out to SoCal, there are plenty of good rock runs (Doran being one of them) - we should totally get an fjcruiserforums run or two set up if you do get out here (with truck or no).
