Southwest U.S. Roadtrip

I am leaving Sunday 9/02/07 for a three week road trip.
I will try to post pics and comments along the way.
Route:
Portland,OR
Mountain Home, ID
Salt Lake City, UT
Arches NP
Moab
Mesa Verde NP
Four Corners
Taos, NM
Santa Fe, NM
Albuquerque, NM (Route 66)
Petrified Forest NP
Flagstaff AZ
Grand Canyon
Grand Staircase NP
Bryce Canyon NP
Zion NP
Las Vegas NV
Death Valley
Santa Maria, CA
Carmel
Monterey
Santa Cruz
Los Gatos
Golden Gate
Napa
Redwood NP
Smith SP
Brookings, OR
Coos Bay
Florence
Portland

Approx. 4500 miles

For this road trip I fabricated a removable four piece tent platform for the roof. (I'll post a picture), installed a Ram-Mount for the laptop, got navigation,
did the concealed Cobra CB install.

I'll be taking the mountain bikes, and basic camping equipment. I'll be staying in hotels most nights, but camping for six or seven.

I am hoping I can just drive to secluded parts of the National Parks and set up camp.

I always carry a 1-liter nalgene bottle just in case.

DDOGG: You're so close that you should plan to visit Canyon de Chelly in Chinle, AZ. Have a great and safe trip.

Re: Southwest U.S. Roadtrip

sounds great! I have a trip similiar that's been on the planning board for a some time now. Except we'll be camping the whole way...and in a jeep. Want to wait for my son is old enough to drive.

Do you have a web page/ blog set up for updates that we can't track?

Ddogg,

Was great to meet you and the Lady in Moab (they had the campground next to us - we had a jeep parked in their spot... ). And your tent setup held up under that storm!!! way to go! (yes, it rained in Moab)

Have a safe trip, looking forward to some picts.
