Cool Poison Spider Trail - Moab Mayhem

On Saturday, at Moab Mayhem, we drove the Poison Spider Trail. A great trail with a great name. The trail was real different from Hell's Revenge. Instead of a lot of slick rock, it was mostly loose rock, sand/dirt, and some slick rock. The trail has to really cool obstacles, Waterfall and Wedgey. Waterfall is a slick rock formation that is very steep and winds around. You have to stay close to the rock wall. The second cool obstacle is the Wedgey. It's not as crazy as Hell's Gate but it is still really fun. We drove a long ways and had lunch by a cool arch that you could see through. On the way back there was some traffic, mostly Jeeps. After we got back to the Wedgey my dad asked Mike if I could run Wedgey. It was awesome. Thanks Mike for letting me try it and for being a great spotter. I also want to thank my dad for letting me try it. Here are some cool pictures. If you ever get to Moab you should really try Poison Spider!

Re: Poison Spider Trail - Moab Mayhem

I did those same trails right after Take Over.

Did you do the Golden Spike Trail and the Golden Crack?

I have some pictures of my truck walking the crack here:

And more pictures here:

It was a 5000 mile round trip for me to wheel at Take Over and Moab. Moab is such an awsome place. I can not wait to go back.

It was great meeting you and wheeling with you at Take Over!!

HERE'S a video from our trip out there last October. Most of the clip is our group doing the Wedgie.

Way to go Montana. Dad sounds like a really cool guy to let you take the wheel as well as doing some spotting.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Re: Poison Spider Trail - Moab Mayhem

It was very exciting running Wedgey. We didn't get to do Golden Spike but we did run the Gold Bar Rim. That was a great trail too. It was great going to TTORA, maybe we'll run into each other again Gadget. I want to thank everyone for there encouragement and I want to thank my dad for believeing in me!

Re: Poison Spider Trail - Moab Mayhem

At the end of Golden Spike it turns into Golden Bar. I don't know if that is the rim trail or not. It was night time and we got a little lost. Did not make it out until well after midnight. It was a blast...

You should be about ready for your own FJ.

Re: Poison Spider Trail - Moab Mayhem

Hi,
I'm going to Moab this weekend and asking a bunch of questions of those who have done Poison Spider. I have been on that trail so I know what is there, but I have never driven it. Are you stock? I have 33s, the rear locker and skids, no lift. How did you do? Think it's a problem for an FJ equipped as mine?

thanks!

Re: Poison Spider Trail - Moab Mayhem

I did this in a stock 91 Isuzu Trooper. Dented it a few places, but they were cool looking dents. I don't think an FJ would have too much trouble. Sliders are probably a good idea.
