Bill Moore Lake

There were 3 Voodoo Blue FJ's on this run. We met at Starbucks in Downieville at 9am, TonysBlueFJ - hero - Ranger92. This was Ranger92's first major run, he came here recently from Washington D.C.

The weather was beautiful. We were all wearing light jackets or sweatshirts, the temp hovering around 53. Hero was our leader, he had been on this trail before. We started out at 9:30 and went to the beginning of the trail and aired down. Their were several other groups up there and we wanted to get a jump on them, and we did. We were stock and the other 2 did have tires. The trail is quite rocky, but that didn't stop us. There are boulders that you do need to navigate around, unless you want to show-boat and go over them, and we wouldn't suggest that. We saw another group do that, (see hero's pics). The lake is beautiful. We ate lunch up at the lake. Coming down seemed harder in spots than going up. Trees in spots are very close together, but the FJ fits through them. We did hit a rain/snow mix coming down. We finished the trail around 1:30pm. I would definately recommend this trail to anyone, however go in a group. There are several gullies to navigate, from the rain. Have fun!!!

Jackie

Pics I originally posted here: Sept. 9th Run - Colorado

Airing down. Lots of others in Jeeps, Quads, and bikes getting ready too. We managed to leave before the rest of the traffic.

Seems to be a hint of fall...

Old mine some people go up to. I am scared to death of these things and stay far away!

Photog moment at the mine.

A forested section of the trail. Seems either big vehicles or bad drivers smack their side view mirrors on a lot of trees here.

Looking at the base of a steep rocky section. I had to use the locker to get up this as ATRAC was arguing about the traction I wanted.

Ranger92 making it to the top.

Followed by TonysBlueFJ.

TonysBlueFJ

Another steep section. Seat belts getting tighter and tighter, could not lean forward at all...

Rest break...

Rocky road most of the rest of the way now.

At the lake. Us three FJs plus some Jeeps and an older LandRover.

The lake with a mini glacier above.

We had apparently just missed the bear that had been fishing in the lake. I bet he was still around watching us.

Started to get a little rain mixed with snow on the way down.

These guys seemed to be wanting to break their vehicles or flip over or get hurt... It was irritating being stuck behind them, they kept jumping out to see if we would take the same ridiculous line as them, we disappointed them.

Re: Bill Moore Lake

Made the run Yesterday with 5280fj and saw FJ4M&E on the way up. Good short run! Cold standing by the lake, but worth it.
