Marlin Crawler Roundup 2007

Fellow FJTT'er Ron invited us (Tim and I) to go with him on the Marlin Crawler Round up. $25 bucks for food and camp (I think), a few more dollars for some shirts and raffle tickets (profits go to Friends of the Rubicon), and tons of fun!

We really need to test out the FJ, Tim and gone up there the week before, but lets face it, I have the final say . We went in Friday morning (9/14) and looked for Ron...no where to be found. No problem, we seemed to make friends quickly as we rolled up ("what is that!!") Marlin was a friendly guy who let me cut in the food line for dinner He also complemented on the awesome fab work that was done!!

Won some cool raffle prices ($100 snap on GC and demello rack mounts!!) and they raised $5k for FOTR.

Besides the many onlookers of the FJ, the second most frequent comment we heard was "wow, I didn't know newcastle came in a can" (while walking!!)

and here are mine. Sorry if they all seem to be about my FJ, I'm still in awe of the change

Re: Marlin Crawler Roundup 2007

Tim decided to create some excitement. I ran ahead to see if I could catch up with some friends while he turned around and waiting for traffic to pass (decide to go back to little sluice when we got to bucks island). He wasn't paying attention (watching someone put their tire back on) and a huge rock launched itself under the FJ. I wasn't there but I came back in time to see this:!!

Notice the passenger tire off the ground!! A few stacked rocks and the fellas helped push it off

Re: Marlin Crawler Roundup 2007

Tim got friendly with a rock after the sun went down, I'm sure some of you will see that on my rear door at ther pomona expo He also learned that the Rubicon changes frequently and the path you take one day may be different the next (it's ok, let's just say I caught him before it was too late!
