The first snow of the year has settled on the mountain. It won't last long, but it is the sign of things to come. In the mean time it leaves great mud behind when it melts. It also makes the rocks sippery and unpredictable. This is a great trail up American Fork Utah in the Wasatch mountains. It should be dried out by this weekend and we will hopefully be doing it on our trail run

Mary Ellen Gulch Utah Pics. I went with my brother who brought his Jeep Liberty, a cute looking car that I have gained new respect for.
I love the mix of snow, evergreens, and fall aspens.
Seeing the snow line means adventures ahead, and winter.
This as tame stream crossing in the fall, much more turbulent in the spring.
This is the opening section of rough trail. Easy normally, slippery now.
Stuck on the 2nd obstacle at an angle with body damage just inches away. (don't worry, on a dry day this is much easier)
Ended up using the hand winch. That was tiring - it will make the electric winch that much more appreciated when I can afford it (soon). First I tried to winch from my pull point, but it made me slide sideways and looked like my tire might roll off. . .
. . . so we switched to a tree.
That took so much time, I worried that we'd have to turn around before the lake so I could get to work. Then I promptly slid side ways 2oo feet further down the hill and got my pumpkin and axel housing stuck on a rock. Voodoogirl this is why I am in the diff skid group buy.

(my son has been begging to add in some smilies.
I now had to take a yank.
There were many fun puddles hiding little suprises (rocks, ruts, logs, etc)
Another puddle
