I just drove through Wyoming last week. SO beautiful. We took the time to see Devil's Tower and Yellowstone. I can't wait to go back.
I'm a second-generation Californian and completely understand what happens when people 'discover' a place. Having traveled all over the U.S. I've heard from just about everywhere about 'you Californians' moving into states and ruining it.
However, I just tell them I live in San Diego where we suffer more implants from other states than I care to discuss!!

It is really really really ....windy here in Wyoming. You folks probably would not enjoy it here at all.
**** son I'm from Oklahoma it don't get any more windy than that if you try keep us away we will send an open invitation to the city San Franciso to move up there.
I did not realize that my little comment would stimulate a response as it obviously has. We enjoy visitors and new neighbors in Wyoming, just help us retain it's beauty and personality that it evidenced by the great pictures posted in this thread. Does the wind blow in Wyoming, of course it does.

I bot it before any great discounts, oh well, I've been able to drive it that much longer.
Me and the hubby have been kicking around the idea of moving to Wyoming. We were looking at the Jackson Hole area. Looking at these pictures makes me want to go even more. Looks like my kinda place
I plan to retire in WY in a few years. I could actually get a few acres and a cabin on what I have.
Worked Flaming River Gorge in the late 80s, nice drive from Rock Springs every day. Had one person here say that the Farrmington NM area looks like around Rock Springs, hmm. I should take a few days there next summer. Also really liked the Cody area.

Jackson is nice but extremely expensive. It's also crowded as hell with tourists. I came through there a couple of months ago and sat at the same light 3 times and I think the city only has 3 lights.

I was on the phone to a friend in Florida a few years ago. She asked me what the noise in the background was. I told her it was the wind. We were getting 60-70 mph gusts at the time.
She couldn't believe that we thought nothing of it.
I like the horizontal snow. The only time I had seen that before was when I fell on the ice and was laying down.
Sweet pics! Thanks. Oh Wyoming, land of cowboys mountains, open plains and a boatload of wind! I have been all over the state and one of my fav areas are the Beartooth/Absaroka mountains-AWSOME!!! The Bighorn mtns are pretty cool, they have signs along the hi-way that tell you what period of time you are in-geologically speaking. Pretty neat, I have rocks from all of the periods-you know jurasic and the like. Jellystone and the Tetons are beutiful, but just too damned crowded during the summer for me, but if you've never been, it's worth the hassle. Last time I was in Jelly, we stopped at 0600 along the road to take a leak behind a tree, when we came back, about 5 cars of tourists had stopped to "Take picture of wiredrife" Unless they were looking for a trouser snake they were out of luck.

If you are ever up this way again, go down south of Green River, Wy and you will see more of those signs around the Sheep Creek area and Flaming Gorge. Then head towards Vernal, UT. There are a bunch of the signs and then when you get to Vernal, you can visit the Dinosaur dig where they have an area for you to watch them actually digging up bones and things. There is a museum on site and in town also.
